Nice job buddy , that was one of my first solo’s learned back at Berklee. Always thought it was one of those “perfect “ solos”,Mr Heath always makes musical statements when he plays. A great person to learn how to play from.

Is this transcription accurate? I'm asking cause i going to use to study jazz and i don't have a perfect pitch to figure things out all by myself. Thank you for the video.

Are you sure it is not Dexter Gordon? A very common error in transcriptions and a little annoying at the end, the classic bop appogiatura is to transform two eighth notes into four sixteenth notes (as in "like Sonny" by Coltrane), and not triplets of sixteenth notes on the beat with an eighth note behind. This is a classic Afro binary rhythm.

Hello, this is definitely not Dexter Gordon. This is Jimmy Heath’s solo from his record “Really Big.” Regarding your comment about the sixteenth note rhythm, sometimes it is 4 sixteenth notes and sometimes it actually is a sixteenth note triplet followed by an eighth note. Due to the nature of swing, the triplet/eighth note rhythm can also be interpreted as 4 sixteenth notes. Thanks for watching!
