By far the Best Guitar Frenzy I have ever watched ! Jimmy Herring kicks so many asses with his virtuosity & endurance , not forgetting about melodic aspect of improvisation & musical Mastery !!! This is the reason , why in my books he is leading the whole Guitar Fraternity @ present !!! Fantastic group of Musos right here !!! Simply phenomenal !

Absolutely MAGISTERIAL. I adore Rick Lollar. I'm sure he is thrilled about playing with the master but I bet you your guitar that Jimmy loves to play with Rick. Such a young guy playing with that stature is not a common thing. Yes you have the typical KZbin phenomenon but they can not play with a band like this with a leader as the mighty Jimmy Herring and the rest of the guys being really masters of their trade. Any of them. I think I only saw this kind of musical beauty with The Aquarium Rescue Unit back in the day or fellas like the Dixie Dregs. Really amazing stuff. Thanks a million for sharing. Much love from West Spain!

I was always familiar with jimmy. I had listened to a little jazz is dead and some of his collaborations with McLaughlin. Lately ive been getting back into widespread panic and was blown away by how good they sound with Jimmy. No disrespect to their origional lead guitarist (mike houser, right?) Who was fantastic but jimmy stepped in and sounds great. Ive been diving in a little more deeply into jimmys other stuff and have been thouroughly impressed. I love it. He is a pretty unique guitarist. In jam rock you have a lot of Jerry clones or guys just doing basic penatonic blues riffs but Jimmy brings this hard fusion influence that sounds very different than everyone else and sounds killer.

Cool concert. Herring has some real "Hot Licks" and the songs are written to feature him but the rest of the band is smokin' also. Jimmy Herring announces new Band and Tour- The 5 of 7 ~~ JIMMY HERRING Announces NEW BAND ~~ THE 5 OF 7 SET TO JOIN CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED GUITARIST ON FALL TOUR ~~ Kevin Scott, Darren Stanley, Matt Slocum and Rick Lollar are The 5 of 7 ~~ Tour Starts September 12 - Continues Through October 5 ~~ (Athens, GA) - May 8, 2019 - Guitarist Jimmy Herring, has announced an exciting new band, The 5 of 7, and will hit the road debuting their live show, including brand new music, to fans. Beginning in Denver, CO on September 12, they will play three shows in Colorado before heading to Iowa, St. Louis, Chicago and Indianapolis. The tour will then head to the east before winding its way down to North Carolina for two shows, with this first leg ending on October 5th in Charlotte. Jimmy Herring is no stranger to adventurous new environs: The North Carolina native has fearlessly honed his now-formidable technique via stints with some of the giants of improvised music - from his earliest days in the van with Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit to high profile stints with the Allman Brothers, The Dead, Project Z, Phil Lesh and Friends, and his ongoing role as lead guitarist in Widespread Panic. He recently collaborated with iconic guitarist John McLaughlin when Herring’s band The Invisible Whip joined McLaughlin’s 4th Dimension for an acclaimed run of shows celebrating the legacy of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This fall, Herring unleashes his latest visionary concept upon the world: Jimmy Herring and The 5 of 7. ~~~~ Jimmy Herring ~~~ While the Invisible Whip focused on the instrumental side of Herring’s musical persona, the newly assembled The 5 of 7 places his uniquely probing, responsive fretwork in the context of a vocalist-fronted, song-driven ensemble. At once accessible and provocative, The 5 of 7 finds Herring joined by bassist Kevin Scott, drummer Darren Stanley, longtime collaborator Matt Slocum on keyboards (Hammond B3, clavinet), and vocalist and guitarist Rick Lollar. “Rick, Matt, and Kevin had a band together called King Baby,” explains Herring from his home in Atlanta, “and I heard their record…I couldn’t help but think, man, if I could get together, play some of Rick’s songs, some of my songs, some covers, and maybe write a few things together, we may be on to something…” ~~~ “In addition to being a fine guitar player, Rick is a really powerful singer,” Herring continues. “Some of his favorite singers are Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, and those are some of my favorites, too.” Supporting Lollar’s soulful vocals, Herring, Scott, Slocum, and Stanley provide a roiling sonic undercurrent drawing from all walks of their respective musical journeys - with one common thread: “We all have the Atlanta, Col. Bruce Hampton connection with each other,” Herring says, acknowledging their shared roots in Hampton’s spontaneous, dynamic, and challenging groups. “That’s important to me because it’s such a different thing - if you’ve been through that school, you want to play with people who have been through that too…you understand how to think on your feet and exist in the moment.” ~~~~~~~~~~`````````~~~~~~~~~`````````~~~~~~~~~~`````````~~~~~~~~~`````````~~~~~~~~`````````-------------------------=====

WOW! My first exposure to Jimmy & his bandmates. Get tired of Blah, Clapton, Blah, Page, Blah, Beck, Blah, Blah, Blah. Yeah they're great but life goes on. Really nice improvisational interpretations of Robben Ford (singer even sounds like Robben) John McLaughlin, Hot '¡Lanta Allman Bros. Rick Lollar plays really fine as well. Bravo. A note to the "Lighting Director(?)" Why don't you look for another job. You are not what people came to see, emphasis on "SEE!!!!!!!!!!!" Here's a suggestion, just turn off all the lights and it will be just like sitting at home listening to your stereo. That was supposed to be a Light Show? What a joke. It was so distracting. You're fired!!!!!!!! I hope.
