Brutus Tan congrats on being heartless. But most americans actually want to allow poor americans to pay for medical care. How do you not get it?! Poor people and children die because they cannot afford it! You think that in the richest country on the planet we should allow poor people to die?! If you dont have money you dont deserve to get better?? Sounds like a sad person with a lot of disposable income, oh you dont have kids or a wife (a family), sounds about right loser.

Brutus Tan oh and ps a college education (something else I bet you dont have) is NEVER pointless! I dont care if you study “lesbian dance theory”, one major point of college is to break the stereotypes and blind patriotism that we have been force fed all our lives. You probably also think that “america is the greatest country on earth”, fucking typical....

+Brutus Tan according to amnesty international, health care is a RIGHT. to say that it is not, is seriously fucked up. with a country such as america, it shouldn't be a commodity because it should be available for all. developing countries however, lack resources and hence in that case it may be seen as a commodity. why spend so much money on the military when there are babies out there dying because they dont have access to health care? That is both stupid and illogical

Kimmel did the right thing and he's one of the few celebrities that has the balls to do it. His love as a father is so strong that he accepted how this would affect him and his career. I liked him before this whole thing and I like him even more now. He's trying to not only help his child but millions of people that don't have the money he has. I don't know what heartless asshole is opposed to this. Someday it might be your child or parent or partner och sibling, or maybe it'll be you that needs help. And then you'll be grateful for people like Kimmel.

That tiny little body has been through 2 massive operations to stay alive & those operations cost 100's of thousands of dollars. This is why Kimmel made an emotional plea because he understood the gratitude of being able to save his child's life and not lose every penny he had doing it. Costly medical bills in America are a huge reason why A) people file bankruptcy B) people dont get treatment.

I commend Jimmy for standing up and doing this! For bringing awareness of what pre existing health conditions mean for someone such as his son or someone else. I myself have a special needs daughter who was born with her condition and will continue even after 11 years to have throughout her life many surgies and doctors appointments. No one asks to have a health condition that requires more care then normal! I fear the future for my daughter if she can't get the proper help she needs due to her pre existing health condition it's very scary.

Good morning Greg. Canada spends about 11% of its GDP on healthcare. Canadians use the healthcare system seven times more per capita than Americans, Because its free. In the bigger cities your wait time is weeks between appointments and the smaller towns are struggling to get doctors. I do not want anybody to suffer or die because of a lack of finances but socialized medical is not the answer. Also Canada pays about 1% GDP on defense. That's about 1% short of its N.A.T.O. commitments. Apparently we are ok with the US covering that for us. Cheers from Ontario Canada.
@rshattuck3030
@rshattuck3030 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I completely disagree with your statement on socialized medicine based on my experiences with the healthcare in southwest missouri. I'm a 56 year old healthy male that now has a monthly premium of $988 with a $6500 deductible since I earn 60k per year there is no credit/deduction from the affordable care act for me, I'm on my 3rd doctor in 4 years because my insurance companies keep leaving the area in which I am located. As of the beginning of 2017 I've seen my newest family doctor twice for knee injections the first appt took 6 month to get and the second happened 5 months later because that was the first available appt. The doctor I had for the previous 3 years I never actually met only the nurse practitioners that lacked the ability to help me. So I guess what I'm saying is if we go to socialized medicine I really can't imagine getting worse care than this because this is complete bull#&$%*@. This is about greed from the medical system and I don't mean my family doctor I mean the hospital system he works for.
@chrissuave92
@chrissuave92 6 жыл бұрын
Good evening to you Robert. I am sorry to hear about your tribulation with your health care system. The problems we have here is the overuse of the system and greed on all fronts. I have no answer for you but there must be a happy medium between social medicine and private insurance. Although that would invite big government into everybody's life like we have here. If you have a few minutes you should look at the list of N.A.T.O. countries that have social medicine and see how many of them fall short of their 2% defense obligation. Free medicine for their people on the US dime. Its in the hundreds of billions. Canada, France, Germany...it's all public record. It's great talking to you, there are so many uncivilized conversations happening on youtube.
@saraH-yu1mx
@saraH-yu1mx 6 жыл бұрын
+Chris Suave Chris, have you actually lived in any of these countries? I have several Canadian friends who say that the wait is never that long and it's easy to see a doctor. I also lived in Italy for 3 years and seeing a doctor there was faster and far more convenient than in the US. I was pregnant at the time and went to about 5 different hospitals in a month at one point and didn't pay a penny. I'm dealing with health problems now back in the US and it's an absolute nightmare. My husband makes 6 figures and has "good" insurance and we are in a ridiculous amount of medical debt. Until you have experienced socialized healthcare first hand, I don't think you're qualified to speak on it.
@minimin86
@minimin86 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Suave you are making 0 sense. We ( Germans ) pay a shit load of taxes that are cut directly from our paycheck for healthcare. So no, it is not free. And I happen to be a medical doctor, so don't tell me anything about misuse of the system. Sure it is not perfect but it's infinitely bette than the system in the US.

Yes we use some of your medicine as does the US use ones we’ve created. The point is that, the NHS is free for everyone. No one needs to pay for life saving treatment. If someone wants something quicker and have money they can always go private. Health care should be a provided to everyone regardless of their background.

Religion is a problem that promotes stupidity, believing in things without any logical reason. Faith is not a virtue. Unfounded beliefs wouldn't be a problem if they didn't affect the society and people's decisions, but they do. When it comes to good wishes like elemi etiks's post, it's true there's no need to be rude. But it also is very frustrating to see such good wishes, because there are sad cases related to people looking for miracle healing happening all the time. There are cases in which parents refuse medical care because they believe some higher power will heal their children. And people die, even though their conditions would likely not lead to any severe consequences with the right treatment. A few examples: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/apr/13/followers-of-christ-idaho-religious-sect-child-mortality-refusing-medical-help www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/newborn-jaundice-dies-parents-refuse-treatment-god-no-mistakes-michigan-rachel-joy-piland-a7973706.html metro.co.uk/2017/06/12/baby-girl-dies-after-parents-choose-faith-healing-instead-of-medical-treatment-6703599/ www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/andrewbrown/2012/sep/04/religion-parents-refuse-children-die

Any parent who has to face such a terribly frightening situation such as the one they did with their newborn son - shouldn't be so harshly scrutinized for the decisions they make as they go through something so terribly traumatic. Interesting how ppl blamed Molly for 'politicising' their son's illness, when very often, a usual criticism of ppl who speak up for something is that they don't know what they're talking about because they haven't lived the reality of it etc etc.

Wait. Hold up!!! At what point does this become about someone's income and the quality of care they got? As a medical professional who is Canadian but working in the states, they don't have a clue! I don't give a shit how much someone makes and rarely even know if someone has insurance or what insurance they have. As medical professionals, we will save your life regardless of your income. Canada is not that way. In fact, I was sent home in full blown heart failure and nearly died. They wanted me to just see my regular doctor in 3 months and then the Cardiologist 6 months later. I was taken across the border into the states they saved my life. Otherwise, I would have been paying out of pocket to see a private physician if I wanted a fighting chance. Really though, they don't even have to have your name to save your ass in the states, let alone your income. Talk about offensive and delusional. It's great that his son got the help he needed, but don't make a bogus statement like that.

I not confident that the Koch brothers or their ilk care too hoots whether or not babies die because their parents can't afford proper medical care, their interest only being in their own wealth and welfare. Payments and 'donations' by lobbyists to those in congress need to cease; anyone taking such money should be imprisoned.

Truth Hurts excuse me? Think about someone else for a change? You dont know one fucking thing about me. I lost my son to an almost identical disease 3 years ago tomorrow, so how fucking dare you!? I spend my life helping fund those in need, went back to school to make my RN into a PA. Everyday I work with children as a Physicians Assistant and was a Certified Nurses assistant at the age of 15.... I cared for the elderly until I went to college and obtained my LPN and then worked as an ER Registered Nurse and now I work on the pediatric ICU floor. So maybe you, sir need to think of someone besides Jimmy. I only commented on politics. And my party? You don't know who I voted for.

lipglosskitten26 - I agree with you 100%. Also - Just wanted to say how truly sorry I am for the loss of your son. As a parent myself, I can't even begin to imagine how painfully anguishing it must be to lose a child, no parent should ever have to know what that is like, and my heart sincerely goes out to you. I admire you for all of the tremendous amount of hard work and dedication that you have put forth in helping others who are up against an incredibly vulnerable and very frightening situation. You have clearly invested your heart and soul into bettering this terribly critical cause, and that in it's own right - is such an extraordinary way to honor the life and memory of your precious little boy.

Brutus Tan please do enlighten me. Do you not enjoy your universal healthcare???
@dicitalore605
@dicitalore605 6 жыл бұрын
Brutus Tan i was with until you said ben shapiro (Ha ha ha ha ha not really). You think government has a vested inerest in "controlling healthcare" well mr shapiro's wife is a doctor so i bet him being against universal healthcare has nothing to do with fear that she will make less money. Yes, it is true that you pay for other people's procedures but by the same token they pay for your procedures as well. And yes conratulations that you can afford every single procedure that you will ever need (even though you have no idea what your future health will be nor how much it will cost) a lot of people don't have that same security. And no canada is not communist russia, so chill, our socialism lies in education and health.... oooooh evil.
@dicitalore605
@dicitalore605 6 жыл бұрын
Ps. Ben shapiro talks about canadian doctors as if they are all homeless or soon to be because they aren't making any money. So there goes any potential arguments from him. I understand that he says things in a way that makes sense to a lot of greedy alt right wingers but sorry that ain't me nor the majority of canadians who love our universal healthcare and the 60+% of americans who also want to get on board with single payer, finally.
@dicitalore605
@dicitalore605 6 жыл бұрын
Brutus Tan what about what i said about you??? You don't know what disease you can have in the future, therefore, you won't and can't know what you will be able to afford as far as treatments. Single payer offers the relief from the financial burden that can in the future impact you and your family. And as far as your theory on inefficient care nonsense and the benefits of competition in healthcare, well you then are denying a poor family healthcare and are favouring giving your money to make big pharma and insurance companies wealthier. The universal healthcare system has worked in canada for nearly 40 years now. If it was so shitty why do we still have it??? Why don't we change to the american system for example??? You prefer to line the pockets of health insurers rather than contribute to a system where everyone can get healthcare (even if it's not you) and help others not go bankrupt thanks to medical bills??? With over 60% of all americans in favour of single payer most of them would trade their system with ours in a heartbeat. And of course shapiro is going to try to make his point of view make sense to others due to his personal agenda of trying to make himself and his family as rich as he can even if it means that people being treated by his wife dies because of lack of money. Having said that, i'm not against people getting rich, i'm not in favour of everyone making an equal amount of money. I want people (all people) to make a decent living, afford their rent, bills, necessities, education, vacation and recreation and guess what, canadian doctors can afford all that and more. No one is going to the poor house because of single payer. Ben shapiro is a selfish, hateful liar who is spreading his propaganda. He can say whatever he wants to, but i see every day how we're doing better in healthcare and we actually pay less due to the fact that everyone who pays taxes contributes to the fund.
@dicitalore605
@dicitalore605 6 жыл бұрын
Brutus Tan the following is an honest question and i sincerely hope you will take it seriously because i really want to know your perspective on the issue. If one day in the future your child is diagnosed with a disease that costs thousands of dollars to treat and you don't have to sell your house to treat them, then will you appreciate the universal healthcare system???
