one thing a lot of great musicians have in common is a shockingly remarkable deficiency in social skills... hadnt you noticed ?... i myself will have to go for a sit down after posting and im only really a shadow of my former self.... its a replacement deal.. a jock has his muscles ... a nerd has his nobel ... a classic has his heritage and discipline ... a jazzer is covered in orchestral suffering... rock and roll ?.. pop ..?.. disco ... eurovision as a retro vintage
@tonys518

Evil Sean. I didn't say he lacked social skills. I said he's looks he's in prison. He has crook nonce demeanor. As for social skills or the lack of, you'll find that evenly spread throughout the general population. Musicians can certainly be quirky and have any number of attributes. these traits does not indicate musicianship or any other ship in particular. The rest of your post is gobbledygook and you application for poet loriat has been rejected

+Lufie Alice Right! about the riffs! i think he was able to learn riffs he heard and replicate them ( he could copy anything) very gifted/ and then used and recreated them and learned so much in that respect of riffs he became the riff monster = it had to go down that way. people always learn from others then some turn into gods.

It's always good to hear Page speak about anything having to do with music. Guitarists have such an intimacy with their instruments - it's so cool- there is a certain spirituality about it. It is not unusual it seems, for guitarists take certain guitars on the road to play live and then something else in the studio. Some take a number of them (groups). I guess it's only logical that some guitars record a certain way sonically. The album and the sound that certain compositions come to need may therefore require a certain guitar. And then there are guitars that play live or that the artists just like to play during a set that come to be a favorite. Or what makes sense for that tune on the road may require a certain instrument as well. Jimmy essentially has HIS sound in the final analysis. The mark of a true master, Miles once said, is for him or her to have their own sound. It is really a hard thing to achieve. The degree to which one can be identified by their sound is such an incredible thing. Jimmy, Jimi, Eric Jeff- and some others - Buddy Guy, John Lee - they all had their sound. Miles once said "your sound is like your sweat". Genius.

i've played many guitars and from different manufacturers (too many to list). I started on strats mostly than moved over to tele's. I have played a bunch of gibbys, both LP and Sg and juniors.. my 2 fav guitars is my les paul junior and an old greco 1000 les paul copy.. Those 2 just play like butter, incredible low action, incredible sound.. on the greco i swamped out both pickups for alnico ones (seymours) with 4 wire leads and made them pushpull. My greco is my keeper....

the secret is not in the guitar , Gibson didn't made it unique , this guitar of 325 Dollar at that time was a commercial item as any other , what's making it legendary is the God Jimmy Page when he played it , give him a Squier or Danelectro and you will get the same results , God bless you Mr Page .

You can not avoid the fact that Page, although he may not be as technically proficient as (Vai, Satriani zzzzzzzzzz etc..) he was writing amazing songs, playing kick ass riffs with one of the greatest bands of all time, sniffing coke of prostitute´s belly buttons long before many of us were born....the man is a legend and I love his erratic sloppy playing with a great tone!

Via, and satriani are amazing technically, but there tunes dont stay in your mind like that of zeppelin, zep had the whole package.. Listen to achillies last stand, its better than all the satrinani and via stuff. Hard rock began with page, no page, no satriani, or via.

I can't find video of a "live" Jimmy Page performance anywhere that shows him actually "playing" in synch with the "soundtrack", so I can "avoid" that "fact" pretty easily. Unless I don't call it a "fact" and therefore it doesn't exist to "avoid" or I'd have no reason to "avoid" it anyway if it is a "fact". Just like people who know it IS a "fact" have no reason to "remind" people that it is a "fact" and certainly shouldn't be giving "commandments"" on what people can or can't "avoid" when it comes to "facts" IF they are "facts". So why are you pushing that "its a fact that Jimmy page did...." narrative? And what big superstar rock&roll legend has ever had to PAY WOMEN TO HAVE SEX WITH HIM OR EVEN LET HIM SNIFF COKE OUT OF THEIR "BELLY BUTTONS"? MOST MEN PERIOD DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SEX UNLESS THEY REALLY WANT TO. UNLESS YOU THINK OF EVERYTHING THAT GOES WITH A "RELATIONSHIP" OR "SEXUAL ENCOUNTER" AS "PAYMENT" AND THEREFORE VIEW ALL WOMEN AS "PROSTITUTES", Is that how YOU roll?

The ironic thing about Jimmy Page replacing the original tuners with better tuning Grovers is that Jimmy is among the least picky guitar players on the planet about actually being in tune! If he's in tune, his guitar tech just tuned it 30 seconds ago and he hasn't played the guitar yet. Jimmy is USUALLY a bit out of tune.

I would say if that guitar went to auction, it would be the most expensive guitar of all time. Hendrix’s Woodstock guitar or Eddie Van Helen’s Frankenstrat might get similar amounts. I would estimate this guitar would sell for around $5,000,000 U.S.. This is the Les Paul that inspired millions of people to pick up the guitar...

I guess this was specs for the Jimmy Page Les Paul from 94? Gibson didn’t do something according to Page’s spec or Gibson changed the machine heads which Jimmy wasn’t happy about, at the time its production was a pretty limited run. It was really expensive.

Page was oe of the few, if not the only original rockstar to put the gibson les paul on the world map. Peter green, or gary more never came close to the touring of led zeppelin. Hes the best rock guitarist of all time, he was ahead of his time, just look at what rock music has become, it was all his vision, the dark riffs, folk melodys, the heavy sound..

Artist is born not taught or made.How eccentric would the purest ones be if anybody gets to interviewing them.. I mean thinking from way back, purely on merit and not any commercial success, or of reputation thats taken for granted.. Where does Rock music fit in.. slightly above pop! ..yet it feels like Jimmy has got that kind of a mind, and though he trashed it in rock and roll, you would think that he would have been a muscian to reckon with anywhere on our timeline.

Needless to say the Gibson copies ended up nothing like Jimmy’s original guitar. No mojo, no vibe, bad finishing, etc. etc.

Not sure of exact year 1959 or 1960? Due to a refinishing job commissioned by Walsh, the serial number on the guitar was removed, which has led to many a debate over the guitar's year of manufacture. However, due to the neck profile, most experts concur that it is likely to be a late 1959 model, or an early 1960.

Thanks David! There is now technology available to scan metal , wood etc to see slight impressions left by the pressure of serial number stamping, but that would not prove much at this point, I suppose. Joe Joe Joe!! Refinishing a 59 or 60 LP? ha ha ha
