A deathbed vision is a vision that someone has just before they die and they've been reported throughout history. Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli discuss how they're just being scientifically studied only recently, what they are, what happens in them, and what they might tell us about the afterlife.

This video made me very emotional multiple times. I have 3 children in heaven, all passing away before their birth. And it brings me great joy to think of seeing them and I long for it. As for right now I have 6 little ones still with me in this life that give me plenty of joy. God is good.

Using critical thinking, I deduce that FINAL VIDEO 1 refers to the fact that this is the Final Cut of the editing process. And keeping “final video” in the title was a clerical/ technical error that will probably be corrected later.

What a beautiful voice, Ms. Heather has! And I find this subject so interesting! As an RN, I've seen a lot of mysterious things that are hard to wrap my head around. So many people have these types of experiences. Most of them pleasant, but I've seen a couple of scary episodes that really shocked me. Thank you for addressing this subject, Jimmy. I loved this episode!

Peace and thanks for compiling the stories. Assume had to use non-copyright song version. My fav are the girls from O Brother Where Art Thou. I hope I would still test the spirits in the Name of Jesus whatever is not of God begone. Eternal rest...to all the souls mentioned. Not a comfort to me to anticipate seeing relatives but pray with hope theyre saved and dont presume and never to despair or envy graces per CCC of St Pius X. These stories reassure yet Jesus said few find the narrow way so am cautious while trust all souls belong to God per Ezekiel. Quote from St Paisos of Mt Athos: "A vision of Christ. It is worth to struggle for a thousand years only to see this beauty just for a moment." (Keeping the memory of God called more attainable goal for monks. Fr Folsom, OSB)😊

The real mystery is whether this is truly the final video. Does this video being published cause all future potential videos to be impossible? What does faith and reason have to say about it? We'll all learn more of that on next week's ... wait...

Jimmy, talk to hospice nurses. There are people who have horrible deathbed visions, and terrible deaths. Whether these people were horrible in life, I don’t know. But some people get tremendously agitated and are afraid to die, and they are dying - they can’t prevent it. It’s awful to see, and you can give them anti-anxiety meds but you can’t prevent the death. And you often can’t drug the agitation away.

Well, he said this first video is only about the earliest research done on deathbed visions and that he plans to do another episode on more recent research later. Maybe that will be Final Video 2. Hopefully, as more research is done, they can continue the series even beyond that. I hope the final Final Video won't be until Jimmy is describing his own deathbed visions, and he and Dom are examining them from the twin perspectives of faith and reason. Peace and long life!

An old bearded man coming through the door to retrieve his child? Sounds like Brahma. And what the dying little girl said about the afterlife strikes me as more consistent with Platonism and Hinduism than Christianity. The material body is created for this life, and when we leave it, we leave it in an astral body.

I wish Jimmy would revert to standard English, instead of his folksy accent. It will be easier for ESL people to understand him. When I worked with a Philipina in Los Angeles, she couldn't understand my slight Pittsburgh, PA accent, unless I made an effort to speak standard English. Jimmy's accent will lose ESL listeners. And it sounds like he doesn't have enough respect for his listeners to make the effort to present in standard English for them. (Thumbs down on the accent).

I've seen many of these comments and frankly I find them bizarre. Why do you say "thumbs down on the accent"? That's how he talks. It's a strange nitpick, and accents can change. It's also not dramatically different from how he would speak two years ago.

I'm convinced my mom was having a Deathbed Vision when she passed from this life into the next. It was August 6, 2015 (The Feast of the Transfiguratio), and Psrkison's Disease had robbed her of her strength, her ability to eat, and her speech. I'll make a long story short by skipping to the moment of her death. While her in home hospice nurse was getting her stethoscope to check mom's breathing, mom suddenly started staring at the wall, and peacefully smiled. She then nodded yes, and still smiling, turned slightly towards me. Her face became bright, and for about a second or so she looked young; similar to an old photo of her when she was in her early 30s (mom was 88 at the time of her death). When she turned back to look at her vision, she nodded again, as if to signal she was ready, after which she peacefully let out her last breath.

I myself was able to sense a peaceful and loving presence the whole time, and am convinced it was Our Dear Sweet Lord coming for her. I wouldn't be surprised if Our Lady was with Him as well, given my mom's devotion to her.

My Mom had something similar. She had become very weak. Literally could not lift a finger. Could not talk, eat, drink, or lift her head. She suddenly started reciting the 2nd half of the Hail Mary, then the Our Father, but barely able to understand. I sat by her side and held her hand. She then started looking straight ahead, and speaking in another language I do not know. Then she suddenly, and in one smooth strong movement, sat up, looked straight at me, said"I love you", while with one hand forceably pushed me off the bed (I'm a big woman) and was reaching out with her other hand towards whoever she was speaking to at the wall. I feel so blessed to have witnessed this, whatever it was.

My dad died in 2017… my mom in 2003. My daughter was about to be born (we gave her my mom’s name as her middle name)…. We hoped my dad would be alive to see my daughter’s birth, but that wasn’t in God’s plan. However, 3 days before he died: I was in his bedroom with him and he asked who the little girl in the corner of the room was… there was no one there. I like to think that he got to have a vision of my daughter before he died

My mom just passed a week ago. I spoke on the phone with her on Wednesday. She was VERY lucid and only ever had slight short term memory issues. I told her I'd call her on my break the next day which I did. I called at 10am and my sister answered the phone. I heard my mom in the background talking with a weary voice completely different from the night before. My sister said, "listen to her..." I said, "what is she saying?" ...She said, trying not to break down, "She's talking to Mickey (our grandma) and grandpa...."Mamma, please help me....Mamma....."" Then, I heard her say something and my sister wihispered sorrowfully, "oh God" ....I said, "what?" ...She said, "She just reached forward and asked mimaw to take her to church" my sister then began to cry. I left work, got my wife, and we caught a plane to Midway in Chicago from Alabama. My sister later told me while she was begging her mom, my sister asked her, "is Mickey here?" She said, "no, she was but not now." She then returned back to her discomfort. When my wife and I got there later that night she was sick but, lucid and her voice was stronger. She passed Saturday morning around 2 am.

My father and my grandfather (my mother's father) were good friends in life. When my father died, my grandfahter had spent a anconsiderable amount of time praying over him with my grandmother. A few years later, my grandfather was lying in hospital dying as well, and he said several times that he could see my father in the room, waiting for him to take him home to Heaven. It was very comforting for all of us.

Sorry, but you have spent 3/4 of it reading from a 19th century book lenghthy passages one after another, which you could have summarized each, and dwelled on analysis. I've been bored to death by this episode, honestly. The only positive thing I pulled out of it is that I kept falling asleep listening to it over and over again, which is not bad for an insomniac

I don't think it's at all reasonable to write off as "hallucination" or "delirium" the frightening visions of some of the dying. Given the existence of negative NDEs and "wide is the road that leadeth to destruction", I expect there are no small number of negative DBVs, but such stories are much less likely to be recorded and passed on. I won't be surprised to see demons coming for me as I pass from this life, and I sure hope the people around me don't assume I'm just seeing things if I say so.
