Oatman AZ is named for Olive Oatman. Her family was killed by Native Americans in the 1800s and she and her sister lived in captivity for years before finally achieving freedom. Interesting story. We loved Meteor Crater. Fantastic!

Oatman is so cool. If you drive up 66 from Kingman it’s a drive you will never forget. My sister moved to Kingman about 20 years ago from Maryland. What a trip that was, she moved with 3 cats, 4 large dogs and 4 horses. Was truly a cross country adventure.

Wow brings back memory's....(the Crater was free when i visited there back in the 70's ) Could you dodge the meteor ? Well think about this if it was going 26,000 miles per hour and the speed of sound is 767 MPH that would mean it was traveling 33.89 times the speed of sound, it would be here before you knew it. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing! Be safe.

If you are wild for donkeys, you will enjoy St John, in the US Virgin Islands. They are much wilder than in Oatman, but easily seen and some are quite friendly. But not all … You cannot get there by van, but many US airlines fly to St Thomas, then you ferry to St John. STJ IS 75% national park.

Petrified Forest? I just left there day before yesterday. Did The Grand Canyon and heading to Zion. I stayed at Walmart in Gallup and the employees there were the only friendly people I encountered in Gallup. Went to a laundromat and would speak to people and they would literally look at me straight in the face, me smiling, and wouldn’t say a word! Sometimes they wouldn’t even look at me when I spoke. Hope you guys have better luck. BTW love, live the donkeys!

That boundary cone is a remnant of a volcano. There is a caldera of a super volcano called the Silver Creek Caldera close by. It's about 16 to 18 million years old. Glad you went in the fall/winter... Summer gets into the 120°+ for days st a time.

Oatman does a good job of selling itself but overall my wife and I were very disappointed. Not sure why or how they claim it’s part of Route 66. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is in state route 10. The meteor crater on the other hand is way undersold as an amazing natural wonder Hope you all “get your kicks on Route 66”

The problem with old US66 is its original 2448mi which led from Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier has mostly been chopped up & re aligned & paved freeways over. The biggest intact section left is only 135mi across Arizona. HOWEVER, There is another road which IS still intact. US50 goes 3019mi from Sacramento, Ca to Ocean City, Md !

We did Oatman Az. and Route 66 a few years ago. It was a amazing trip. Not on Rt. 66, but the wildlife loop in Custer SP. in South Dakota has a lot of wildlife. Besides Buffalo it also has wild burros. The burros walk right up to your car and even stick their head in your window.

I was very disappointed at meteor crater. While passing through with the family we decided to stop and check it out. It was an hour before they closed and still wanted to charge us full price. They said the tickets are good for 24 hours and to come back the next day. So sadly since we were just passing by we didn't see it. Great video as always.
