@@damoncuccia788It wouldn't be surprising at all. Even without competitive lap times, a driver with as much of a following as Jimmy's is a significant asset for a race team - major sponsor draw. I can well imagine that they might find an excuse to get him some laps in the real car and see how he gets on. It will only drive Jimmy's audience to pay special attention to the BMW's results next season, even if a single test is the only time he drives it. I'm already more interested than I was before watching this. There's no real downside to getting him a test in the real car so long as he doesn't put it into the wall or another car, and his performance in the sim would seem to indicate that the likelihood of that is close to as low as with their pro drivers.

You could tell within a couple of races in original goldie that he really had something, the more real everything got the more his levels just rose to meet the challenge. What he did with that 330i was beyond impressive, doing that stint with a bent door and no rear view mirror, nearly actually avoided it too - opening lap escapes seem to be something of a speciality he has - when there's pace to show he shows it, consistently. For all the joking/not joking humility there is a pretty epic human and genuinely talented real life racing driver before us.

@@blairwalton4456 rF2 fan here: rFactorPro is mostly a graphics engine to which teams attach their physics packages, that, I have been told, are in many cases done in "Dymola". But, at least one Pro driver Ye Yifei said that LMDh in iRacing are way too much on rails and previously also said that the Dallara LMP2 on iRacing was a far cry from the Oreca in rF2 which, nonetheless, still wasn't as good as he wished it to be. On the other hand, Guy Cosmo said that the Oreca in rF2 was very very close to the real deal on all inputs and behaviour and Pagenaud said the same about the Caddy DPi, even with the very forgiving previous tyre model it uses.

@@GuilNascimento im pretty sure the original comment is talking about the immersion of the physical rig itself, but on the same software. i would say the realistic sim would gain time, because you gain so much new sensory information that would be lacking on Jimmy's home rig. someone who is racing real cars would not become overwhelmed by it all, but utilise as much of that additional knowledge to go faster. if someone is a "casual" driver, then im sure they wouldn't really know what to do with that information and would likely make more mistakes without it -- that would be me :-)

It's like one of us made it. He's out here putting in the effort to live a dream. It's quite motivating. So motivating, in fact, that I'm posting an uncharacteristically positive comment, sarcasm and cynicism free.

So proud of our Jimmy. I don't see any reason for BMW or another team not to offer him a test seat now that he's on pace. Much respect to BMW for fostering this whole experience and to Sheldon for being a stand-up dude. I can't be the only one really wanting to know more about this simulator. I know it's probably proprietary, but couldn't we be given some sort of vague details as to what they are using? Respectfully, that's what's missing here. We're a sim racing community and we'd like to know more about this simulator of theirs. What I noticed was that the graphics don't look like game graphics. Maybe it's just because I'm accustomed to oversaturated VA panels. I don't know if it's the color saturation or what, but the buildings actually looked somewhat real like we were watching a video playback. Photogrammetry? RFactor pro? 🤔

It's been said it's RFactor pro but thats pretty much all the information that can be released due to NDAs unfortunately.

So has Jimmer's speed on the brake pedal increased after all the rl racing? I remember that was a big area for him to improve last time. Don't push the break pedal but karate kick it every time.

TC off, Its all about that TC off and learning to control, Jimmer sure has transitioned with elegance when it comes to the happy feet, something about the old cars and no assists. IRL, it helped me immensely, my foot, hand, eye coordination all those hours Iracing,GT5,Sport,PC1,PC2,Assetto, Jimmer is so much fun to watch with both feet, I brake only with right foot, even in sequentials, leaving clutch foot always available for downshift if stick. No good at trail braking. Slower, old school, but I love it. Jimmer is spectacular at heel n toe, thats the hayday of racing for me, no assists, like wrangling a greased pig, blindfolded

I credit Jimmy of course, but think he got so much out of his second season in Praga with coaching he got there. Think he took a significant jump in technical ability and speed that year.

So modest in his talent is Jimmer. Can't wait to see him smash some more irl championships given the right sponsor deals. If you can't tell already. He's pretty fast.

That must have been a humbling experience for Sheldon. At the start of the video he behaves like the big DTM champion and at the end not so much! Great work Jimmy!
