In this war, for the first time ever, I was cheering for the regular Fatui troops and I was actually sad to see their corpses. Capitano’s men are built different, they were helping people even before the war started and seemingly without orders, and all they asked was to not get credit for it because Capitano didn’t want to be bothered by anything even though he definitely approved of their actions, and those soldiers didn’t even threaten those they saved to keep quiet, and they even clarified that, they simply asked. I can say pretty confidently that Capitano is like Arlecchino or Childe, where we might fight them or be on opposing sides in the future, but there’s no hostility between us and them, and if anything there is respect and friendship.

@@KingGesura You have terrible misconception 😂 Arlechino only goal was the gnosis from beggining to end, her meeting with furina was to try force her to give up the gnosis or atleast give its location up, She sent the fatui kids to investigate the ortice mechanism before hand itself, and even tried to use childe dissapearnce as a bargaining chip to get the gnosis, she didnt help fonatine for free at all her motive was clear from beginning Neuvi gave her the gnosis only because its troublesome to keep it in fontaine and it also serves no purpose as the hydro throne concept was destroyed. And as for childe just because he is ur favourite doesnt mean u can forget that he nearly wiped liyue of the map, u cant ever be redeemed from such crime ever no matter even u unknowingly helped another nation, if u thought childe fought that whale to save fontaine then u are wrong, he fought it just for fighting it not for anything else , he didnt even know he had helped fontaine by keeping that whale busy. While capitano made it clear that he never cared about bringing the gnosis to tsaritsa but rather to use it to save natlan, his motives were clear from beginning, he doesnt seem to care about tsaritsa or the fatui goals too much, he even gave up on the gnosis because he lost the fight against mauvika, he has also been fighting for natlan from the time of cataclysm(500 years) he could have taken the gnosis back when he was still in his prime but no he didnt, have u ever seen any other harbinger not take the oppurtunity to snag the gnosis ?

They did met. According to the Mika's letter, Varka's expedition team accidentaly ran into Fatui's scout that comes from Capitano's team. There was a tense standoff, but Varka and Capitano agreed that they will peacefully depart. Maybe back then, they had a brief clash before decide to settle things with more peacefull way. Maybe that was when Capitano learn a thing or two about Favonious Bladework. He did however, stating that he would love to had a duel with Varka under different circumstances.

Capitano may be cool but he sided with the likes of Dottore, La Signora, and Arlecchino’s predecessor. The Fatui are evil no matter their justification. They kill, enslave, brainwash, and harm innocents without hesitation. It’s like an Oversimplified Napoleon quote, “We liberated you from your Italian (Celestia) oppressors and replace them with French ones (Snezhnaya’s Fatui).” The other six nations all hate the Fatui for a good reason. It’s the same issue with Haytham Kenway in Assassin’s Creed.

Their corps defended Liyue from the Abyss coming from the chasm unbeknownst by the civillians on the surface, after Zhongli's retirement arc, the Milelith cuts all aids to them, starving them, they plan to fight til the last man until the traveler convince them to evacuate. Fatui soldier lores are locked behind side quest, found in detail only in book item and stuffs, they pretty much makes all 6 other nation military effort looks like clown circus.

Just because genshin didn't always shown us the evil side of the other nations, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Kanriah sort-of triggered the cataclysm that almost destroyed the world. Monstand used to have human slaves fight in the arena for fun. Lyiue had people betraying and murdering each other in an all out war where lesser "gods" and their followers got obliterated. In Inuzuma, just recently, the archon stopped the plan where she was intentionally stripping her own people of their ambitions and often, lives. In Sumeru you had fascism and full information control with the Akademia working together with the Doctor -> the same doctor that tortured many people, among other places as is currently seen as the main "evil Fatui". Fontaine had racism 2.0 with the melusine. Currently Natlan doesn't have a glaring "evil" side, at least not yet. Even our own "sibling" in this game is siding with the "bad guys", the Abyss which we just fought. Yet, she/he does that in order to challenge and defeat the sustainer. As such, the Fatui are just like every other organizations, with good and bad. And once more, up until now the only "bad" guy that I can say the fatui have is the doctor and even there I'm sure there's more to the story. They are just "less nice" than others and more direct.
