Fun fact: pets do not understand things like pet cones because they do not have something called externalised proprioception. This is the ability to feel the position, weight and movement of things you are touching. A dog in a car literally has no idea what is happening to the car and can only react to its movements. A human can project their senses to encompass the car and feel how it shifts and moves in the same way that they can feel their arms and legs moving. So picture this: you have a hula-hoop around you that someone else is holding and trying to match your movements with while you’re walking around. You have no connection to it and if you change direction it will bump you and you won’t predict when. That’s how a cat or dog feels when they have the cone on. The cone is always another object, they cannot comprehend why it’s stopping them from doing things.

@@9_1.1 Correct, they just feel that this is some inhibition they need to push through. They can be taught to not pull against that, but tests have shown that the dog will react the same way if a person puts a stick in the same position a collar would be and gives them the same training. This is why most owners of enthusiastic dogs choose to go with a harness, because the dog won't stop choking itself against the collar. Most dogs taught to walk on a leash are not really any different to dogs taught to walk precisely to heel, except that the leash is a layer of safety against the instinct-override to chase or run. While some dogs can be trained to behave in certain ways, like guide dogs, they don't actually make the connection between their movements and the guide vest. They guide the humans through their own movements, not through a harness. The harness does help as a tool, in that if they don't feel the pull (their owner lets go) they know to behave a certain way compared to when they do feel it. That key difference is something that guide dog trainers know to work around.

@@9_1.1 Funnily enough I learned it during my college days on a voluntary course of Physiological Theory, as part of my sports. It's basically side knowledge on the topic of Proprioception (heavily important in sports for any sport where you hit something with a bat or racket or stick, very important in gun sports, and even for gymnastics) and is one of the things that separates intelligence levels between different kinds of animals and the stages of Human development. Any animal that uses a tool without human intervention has externalised proprioception. In terms of humans, for example, a baby does not have object permanence (when they can't see a thing, it doesn't exist) and so cannot use externalised proprioception. It's a heavy part of the Phantom Limb condition, where amputees still 'feel' sensations in the removed limb, and it's also more of a sliding scale with some people incredibly sensitive and others not very. So there are a few studies done, but you have to look into the human physiology rather than animal psychology to find the studies my course was drawn from.

port is left, due to side of the ship that docks to the port. Right is Starboard, which comes from Steer-board, when the rudder was a huge board attached to the right-hand side of the ship. Although times have changed, due to steerboard's position on the right, the left hand side was the only side available to dock towards the port.

Port also used to be known as Larboard and Backboard. Larboard (from lade-board) for the same reason as Port, since that is the side of the of the ship that would be loaded/unloaded from. Backboard because the guy operating the steering board would have his back facing that side of the ship. The British Navy standardized Portside in the 1800s to prevent confusion with how similar Starboard and Larboard sounded, though it had been in use for quite a while already.

Port side isn't always the side we dock on, most of the time starboard is easier actually! Since we like to back into an outer dock (dock closest to the sea/ocean) the side with the dock on it is the Starboard side :)

The hamburger meat itself isn't unhealthy and you can ask for it without the salt/pepper they put on it, but it does admittedly stop tasting good when it's bland like that. I worked there for four years so it was necessary for me to actually look into their nutrition facts; I basically ate just the steak, bagels, eggs, and 1/4 beef patties by themselves. Not the most comprehensive in terms of nutritional variety but my protein was up at the very least. Ground beef's only real issue is the fat, which is incredibly high.
