Dragon 1 year owner here, have the exact system featured in this video. Coming from the traditional avr route with my almost 15k Denon and KEF setup, to the I would say that for the price and simplicity to set up, it is a no brainer. Kids are happy, wife is happy, i am ecstatic. Was actually blown off by how a "soundbar" could sound so clear, detailed and accurate! Give it go and you will know..

What's better than one of my favorite reviewers reviewing my favorite soundbar? Jimmy was the one who got me introduced to the Nakamichi brand with his review of the shockwafe back then. Just got myself another 12" subwoofer to expand the original dragon system. Let me just say, the best got even better! I thought my dragon has peaked but how wrong was I. With the 12" sub, bass is obviously stronger and gets much deeper. But hey, separation and Atmos seemed much more improved too!🤘

Does anybody remember the Nakamichi Dragon cassette decks? Them decks were legendary. I had one in the 90's and the recordings you could make with them identical to the source material you were using. And them decks were a favorite of deadheads that recorded the shows live to bootleg them. As far as this soundbar goes, I have heard it several times and was impressed for it being a soundbar. But... I do prefer the traditional speaker setup and separate av receiver. I do see where this makes more sense for certain living situations though.

I have the Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 system from Nakamichi for about 5 years and there's one major problem with it. When the input signal drops to zero, the system takes a full second to two seconds to return once it gets a non-zero signal again. For instance, when watching a KZbin video through it, if they used gating for their talking head, and there's no background music or other sound, the input signal is essentially zero, and the system "turns off" and when the voice comes back, it takes the system some time to restore the sound, which makes listening to a video like that very disappointing. It also can take up to 4 seconds for a new input to begin being played. For instance, playing a new KZbin video. I can miss a few seconds before the sound actually starts playing. For MOST content, this is never an issue, as almost no sound input is zero from standard media. It's just on some poorly mastered KZbin videos with gating or extreme noise reduction. No firmware update or settings are able to fix this issue that I've found. It's very frustrating for a system that was so expensive. I wonder if the Dragon does a similar thing. It's possible this is coming from the eARC input from the LG smart TV that I'm playing the KZbin from, but I can't control that. The other issue is that I think I blew one of the subwoofer boxes when I played Oppenheimer on it a few months ago. It still works, but it now gives me some weird random thunks and pops on some playback of some content. I'd love to upgrade to this Dragon, but it's just far too expensive for what it is, especially if it exhibits the same odd behaviors as my Shockwafe system.

@@jimmyispromo one issue is that the subs don't drop under 40hz - Nakamichi plays them very hot at 40hz to make believe there's bass. But the biggest issue is the crossover where part of the voice moves away from the soundbar to the subwoofer. You had them close together and that's almost required. If you place the subs on the side, the voice is split across the front and side and since the subs are not positional, it goes left and right. If you put the subs behind, it's even stranger 🙂

Hey Jimmy, do a bit of research before posting a false channel number. The .4 is incorrect sir. This number is for the single-mono LFE channel, not the number of subwoofers you have in any system. This number stated by Dolby should always be .1 for the mono LFE channel. So the Dragon should state 11.1.6 w/4 subwoofers. The More You Know!
