If you did it (even a trickle) For the first couple of days or so, at least your baby got the colostrum and benefited anyways :). I had a couple of friends for whom it never really worked out more than just a adjunct supplements and even then only for a few days.

This. All of this. My lactation consultant to me to "take to the bed", that another woman she had seen before me had been selfish for wanting to go for a walk in the first six weeks (what?!) and that I had to lie down for at least the first six weeks and do nothing but feed my baby. Then my baby was diagnosed with a severe lactose allergy, she told me it was impossible for the baby to be allergic to breastmilk, even though she broke out in a rash. It was only when she started pooing blood that she listened to me. Formula all the way!!!

This si so funny, but so true! I had milk for a month and then 3 weeks my second baby, and a woman gynecologist that I no longer have, judge me on it. She said “ well, it’s better than nothing”. When I had been breastfeeding beautifully well with my two babies, I just had no more milk! And just the though of taking pills to breastfeed, was sooooo off my mind. It just never seemed natural to me. Hope new moms see this, and feel ok to stop breastfeeding when you are no longer producing milk. It’s ok.

i've never heard a positive story about lactation consultants...the first time the nurse tried to grab my nipple, without my consent....it wasn't pretty, but she never came near me again. ultimately a close friend fed my child, helped it latch and i had a relatively easy time from there, DO NOT LET THEM PRESSURE YOU AND SAY NO WHEN YOU ARE NOT FEELING IT!

Post breastfeeding breasts that have gotten larger are not attractive... usually it's associated to weight gain some women experience due to hormonal changes, but it ends up happening to most mothers eventually in life anyway so. So yeah, your friend should consider herself lucky, that's nothing a bra can't fix... she dodged a bullet.
