How big Jimmy would have been. The guy was magical, he really was. This was, by far, the finest line-up of Wings / Macca & his band, by a country mile. Sleep well Jimmy lad. 50 years on, we're still talking about you ❤

ROAD To The Top George was never a very good soloist. He even invited his friend Eric Clapton to record "while my guitar gently weeps" solo guitar because he had more talent. John's talent was songwriting.
@resireg7 жыл бұрын
ROAD To The Top songwriter as well. And he plays all instruments (as we see in videos like " fine line" and " coming up"). George, John and Paul were not great as live performers, they would write songs, many of them would become hits after covered by another artist, like Joe Cocker singing "With a little help from my friends", or "Dear Prudence" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Thats what they knew how to do best. No Jimi Hendrix solos, no Keith Moon crazy drumming, no Beach Boys harmonies, etc

Great song. Its frustrating that Paul doesn't get more recognition as one of music's most notable bass players. Granted, the score here is fairly basic, but the drive in the bass is Paul's talent punching through. The earlier Beatles works wouldn't sound the same without Paul 's bass walking all over the fret board. Refreshing to hear this song again after many years....
@ririririr76049 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Clark ???? I gave you a thumbs up on this because I agree with your points after your first sentence, but McCartney influenced THOUSANDS of bass players, myself included. He's #1 on the list and probably the best guy to learn bass from.

Nobody was playing bass like McCartney in the 60's. The bass player in bands back then were primarily 3 note thumper's standing in the background. Paul is the melody master and probably was a good string player a half hour after he first picked up a guitar....

The general public need to categorize. So, McCartney can't possibly be recognized as a great bassist since he's recognized as a great songwriter and singer. The public can't handle in their minds that he is one of the most influential and gifted bassists ever, as well as being pretty good on any number of instruments.
