I've actually gotten a serious shin injury, I was practicing at the apartment complex for my nephews lived because they wanted to learn too, and I decided to learn how to Crane so I run at this 2-ft wall jump managed to put my left foot first and then my right shin hit the edge of the wall I actually did a failed front flip my upper back hit the concrete my lower back afterward and since I'm a chubby person the fat made this really loud clap that you could hear from about a block away, I get up I look at my shin there's a hole 6 mm deep, and the skin on the sides was pushed in, so that's it I stopped training took a little bit of a break and I was treating the whole now it's just a light brown trench in my shin...

In climbing we call ripped callouses "flappers" and the best way to prevent them is to get a pumice stone and smooth down the callouses. It's never actually the callous that tears, it's the thinner weaker skin that borders the callous. The point of pumicing is to help smooth out that transition and, over time, build up thicker skin overall that wont tear as easily.

At my old school when i was a kid there was this small gated playground for preschoolers that is always locked. So as a young homeless-looking parkour kid, I hopped the fence with a few of my mates and started climbing on it. Then the security came and I've never climbed a fence so fast in my life. Even the pudgy kid with us climbed it fast. That was a fun night evading security around the campus.

Haha, feel like "shitty parkour parks" should have made that list. The city wanna build parkour parks cause its "urban" and "cool" for the kids... and they end up giving the job to some random ass building company or playground company, who ends up wasting area on an "unusable" parkour park which could have had great potential if only they reached out to the parkour community! at least that's a problem where I am from.

This basically. I mean I get the appeal of freerunning and why it would be a fun activity/hobby for people.. However I have no respect for freerunners that think they're above the law and that infringing on private property is hokey dokey. I mean, so long as they're not actually doing any damage I'd probably not be bothered too much by it, but if/when you get caught and somebody tells you to bugger off.. just do so gracefully and apologize. I busked on the street for many years and well-represented here are the two types of civilians that are annoying: The "you can't do that here" (same sentiment as the over-zealous security guard) & the guy looking for you to fail (heckler with the whistle.) The other two, though, are something that you will have to get used to. The other two are your fans and you better learn how to deal with them and appreciate them, cause once slighted, you got nobody on your side: they are the guy who screams "Play Stairway to Heaven!!!" and the hang-around and talk your ear off as represented by the "kids are gonna love this" and "ooh, can you do a back flip." You have to learn to walk the line of a quick "thank you" or nod and then ignore them. So, friendly without being friends. But remember: they are your only civilian champions in the world---don't reject them, or you'll have nobody.

Yikes, this entire video practically sums up why FreeRunning is considered a problem by so many people. - "Gasp! They don't want to let strangers use their privately maintained property as a gymnasium? I can't stand these sorts of people!" Yeah... and I bet the property owners feel exactly the same in reverse, except, they aren't the ones going out of their way to trespass and introduce liability into someone else's life and space. They just want to be left the hell alone. - "Security is always in the wrong and makes themselves look bad...." says the entitled fella who literally NEEDS to be told to leave multiple times before having to escalate because runners refuse to. THEY are doing their job, while runners willingly make that job harder. - "I hate it went they put these rocks all over the walls!" Well, I'm sure they might use a different material... if they wanted their walls to be playgrounds. Surprise! They built the wall to serve the purpose it was built for instead, apparently having to redesign some constructions to prevent entitled runners from ruining them. Those little rocks you say give you better grip for feet work? Yeah I bet the owner loooves went your shoes sheer off a bunch of those rocks and erode the wall at a much faster pace... Dude, respect and all that, but this video only worsens the image of free runners. This is the opposite of helping, and if any property owner wishes to protect themselves from entitled people (runners included) we have absolutely no right to judge them for doing so. Imagine if someone were to start jumping around all over your recording studio and wouldn't stop unless physically made to... not cool. Also... wear gloves and pads dude, we have technology already in place to solve many of these injury related issues. Those injuries are a conscious choice at this point.

So, from my medical knowlage I can say that „ankle thing” is muscles in your foot/ankle are streched more then usually, thats why you are in pain, and if it happens a lot you might „rip” your muscles in, basicly it means that your muscles streched so muchh they couldn’t take it any longer, so they rip apart, it might take them couple of days to heal, up to a week. The problem with private property owners is that freerunners are very happy to spend hours jumping on things that were not built to support those kinds of impact repeatedly. Maybe your group will jump on that rail a few dozen times in a session. That's no big deal. But you will come back another day, and another day and another one. And between your group's sessions other groups with the same idea will do the same. All this repeated stress will gradually damage the rail. Did you ever reach to a property owner and offer to participate in the necessary repairs? You want property owners to let you in? Just show them you take responsibility for your actions and cover the cost of the damage you make. And that's also true with the city council for public areas.

@@monkeybandit222 The issue is, mutual respect. Why does anti-climb paint get used? Because you free-ran all over the building multiple times in spite of the owner of the building being annoyed by it. This means showing a disregard for others, considering his ability to use a building as a playground to be greater in importance than a building owner's desire for him not to use their building as a playground. And then he gets annoyed when someone is standing in a spot that is generally out of the way while on a phone. He may be able to pass that spot because he's a free runner, but normal people walking through the area? They can't pass through that spot, so standing there is as out of the way and considerate as possible. But it gets in his way, and he hates being impeded. He's an ass.

The thing is, most people doing pk aren't climbing all over someone's house. It's usually larger buildings or areas with railings and walls, I understand that people don't want others to climb their shit, but when it's not hurting anyone or breaking anything I think we should all just go our own way and all will be well.

@@lastyhopper2792 well yeah obviously, but I was talking about the people who own like industrial sided buildings and someone who lives in the apartment complex next to it starts going ape shit. Usually the pk peeps out there don't really train on smaller places cause it's not as fun to do, rather they find places with walls and rails, places to jump and shit which likely can happen to be large areas where they're not anywhere close to the building in question, or they are in public spots with good placement and they still end up in trouble anyways.

Hey, I personally don't have an experience with anti climb paint, but as a roofer when we get tars or oils on our hands we use Gojo. Something about Gojo will cut through most tars and oils like its no big deal (otherwise these tars and oils will stay on your for days). Edit: it almost lets us salvage clothes that have tars on it that would otherwise ruin the clothing.

gojo is really good at getting explosive emulsions off your hands too. Honestly it should be in everyone's kit.

As someone who works on their own machines, I can say that gloves are the worst thing when trying to grab onto/hold small things. In my case, nuts, bolts, and some tools. In the case of freerunning, it would be ledges, posts, and railings. Gloves may be protect your hands, but even in 10 degree weather I find myself taking my gloves off to grab things, because gloves just make it harder. Also consider how freerunners wear loose fitting pants and shirts to be able to move more freely. Gloves, even if they increased grip, decrease your flexibility, and therefore your ability to to various things as easily as bare hands.

The security guard thing is so true. Once me and my friend were doing parkour at some mall and we were minding our own business. After a bit a security guard came up to us and told us to leave because it’s ‘dangerous’ which we understood. We says ok and left. Not to mention he was chill and as you said he was just doing his job.
