I thought it would be a complicated process since I don't know anything about these manual hubs. Might come in handy as I hear the automatic hubs have a tendency of acting up or failing. I am thinking of getting this car in the future. Good to know about this.

Done!!!! Thankyou so much, works a treat :) Green light kept flashing when I had finished and I thought it hadn't fixed it, but 1min later stopped, solid light and all working as intended - maybe it needs to build up vacuum for a min to get positive reading ... Thanks again

I solved the problem of the 4x4 functioning by mounting the tyrex manual hubs instead of the automatic hubs that always gave problems in my 2001 Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with m13a motor and to replace the automatic hubs and overhaul the vacuum system for inserting the 4x4 I would have spent many euros between spare parts and labor! Instead of running 2 bolts in the lines and cable tying them closed, its easier to just do the u-bend on both sides and just kink the u-bend which seals it. Personally i think its easier.

Interesante , ...resulta que he encontrado que los cubos de conexion electrica son menos fuertes que los manuales y que ademas tienden a pegarse en algun bache y suena metal . Buen dato . gracias

What are the benefits to changing to manual hubs? As in my mind it just means I'm getting out the car to engage something I already have a lever for 🤷🏻♂️
@Chris_the_Muso2 жыл бұрын
The manual locking hubs are more robust according to some people. Problems seem to revolve around the vacuum system more so than the hub locker. A failure on one hub lock makes the front diff completely inoperable, since traction control for the front axle will no longer work and power will always go to the unlocked axle. Manual hubs are really not much of a problem in practice. You can leave them locked while you are going in and out of 4WD and until you will no longer require 4WD for an extended period - ie remember to unlock the hubs when you hit the bitumen again. The only problems with forgetting and leaving the hubs locked is increased noise, wear, and fuel consumption. It won't affect the drivability in 2WD very much. So, vacuum systems are another system to maintain, however proper maintenance can avoid almost all problems. Vacuum hubs should be serviced every two years whether or not you use them and more frequently if they see a lot of hard work or fording. That includes greasing, checking vacuum lines etc. They are pretty easy to work on, but I suspect it is one area that a lot of DIYers forget about. If you are planning a trip and haven't had the front hubs serviced in a while, it should probably be a high priority item.

No other mods needed mate. It’s was factory stock at the start of the video. You can also grind the lip off the nut and not run the spacers if you wish. Spacers are easier though 😁

It doesn’t change anything performance wise. The only reason people to this mod is because the stock automatic hubs are crap and they fail. Manual hubs are annoying but more reliable
