43:55 In my experience, Gen 4 feels a lot like gen 1, in that pretty much any team you build will be pretty viable, as long as it includes the same 4 mons on it somewhere. In this case - Skarm, Jirachi, Clef, and Rotom. Throw any other two nerds on the back of that squad, and you'll be playing gen 4. Otherwise, you might have some casual fun, but you're going to be subject to a lot of RNG along the way.

Real talk, I appreciate what smogon has done for competitive singles but the real reason why people want Jirachi suspected over Machamp is because they know they aren't immune to bias and ego. Too many people over the many years have argued in favor of Jirachi. People don't just go and admit they were wrong especially when their old opinions are immortalized. Gen 4 Jirachi suspect will never happen. Its already had too much controversy in the past that, in the minds of those who can do something about it, has already been "settled" in an argument they had 10+ years ago that could be summed up in "just bring rotom, heatran, your own jirachi, and a cleric bro" completely waving away the rng issue as a skill issue. Machamp suspect had enough momentum gathered in recent times. Jirachi suspect will never happen, i guarantee it.

it is not absurd to see that dynamic punch is an uncompetitive move. banning an uncompetitive move is not a particularly complex ban. I think the perception on what is or isnt a complex ban is very unusual.

Yeah a move ban would be OK too. If it was up to me I'd say all Confuse moves should just be gone. We've got the precedent of banning Swagger in multiple Gens already

@@jimothygaming I'm ok with Confuse Ray and Supersonic because they're just Thunder Wave that clears on switch out and no speed drop, with an extra bonus of the opponent hitting himself occasionally. I don't think that's better than Twave and very few Pokemon can exploit the miniscule self-damage. The issue really just is with Machamp's DP because it can break through checks with 2 self-hits due to its 100 BP. Swagger makes you kill yourself faster which is also bullshit. Water Pulse and Hurricane I'm not sure what to do really, they're kinda necessary for some Pokemon, you can't just axe them but technically have a similar issue to DP, besides the fact that there's no No Guard users for Hurricane.

Actually... you can ban dynamic punch if you want to avoid the confuse chance, it has a 1:1 replacement in cross chop. Its also a much easier thing to deal with rather than the 60% fishing simulator whos entire gameplay is based around that and BS their way through more games than mr fist.

I think banning Dynamic Punch or No Guard is better than banning Machamp since without either one of those, the Parafusion strat Machamp strives for becomes nonexistent. I saw people saying they might try Sash Machoke in Machamp place and it might become another Dugtrio/Diglett scenario. As far as Jirachi goes, you might have to ban Jirachi sadly. Iron Head ban is more ideal but Zen Headbutt or even regular Headbutt exists as a replacement and a Body Slam ban is just silly and would just be replaced by Thunder Wave or Thunder Punch for para chance. I know people are scared of the repercussions of banning Jirachi, but it’s just too toxic and uncompetitive in the tier at the moment and needs to go. The only way to save it would be to ban Para itself but I know that becomes too complex of a discussion for the council.

The Body Slam ban isn't silly under that logic because it introduces counterplay, Jirachi now wouldn't be able paraflinch ground types, so a faster ground type would naturally destroy it. It is silly because it takes away Body Slam from other Pokemon that aren't toxic with it, so really either you're doing a complex ban there or banning Jirachi. You can't ban para, not only are the meta implications insane but it makes the games too dissimilar to cartridge, which is the #1 consideration when trying to ban something usually.

I'd imagine hippo, skarm, clef, jirachi teams can be very consistent, which is what you need to qualify in the suspect test. Machamp is much more about RNG you can use to steal lucky wins but is also a lot less consistent even when played well.
