What a timing! I just spoke this week with my son about the possibility to host our own Minecraft Server and he did not believe me I could do so .... Well, now I know 😁 Thanks a lot Jim 👍

Thanks for video and warning about the security . What is the setup/configuration for Traefik. i remember sitting this docker a while back but I couldn't figure out the port configuration setup in Traefik: It had to do with UDP/TCP.

Thanks for the comment, can you clarify? I have a couple of videos on Traefik.

in Traefik fileConfig.yml I specified the URL with port number (minecraft_ip:25565). in docker-compose.yml, i opened the ports 25565:25565/udp and 25557:25575/upd. however, this did not work. all other apps and services that use TCP work but not minecraft that uses UDP.

great stuff Jim, thank you. Now I installed a local instance of Minecraft some years ago but found out the hard way that iPad iOS versions of Minecraft couldn't log on to self-hosted Minecraft server versions. Since then, I haven't tried it. Have you or others from your community experienced this or is there a way around it so my kids can enjoy some local Minecraft on their Apple iPads?

I think that Minecraft bedrock solves that issue, it's cross platform. You can tweak the image in this deployment to spin up a bedrock server.

@@Jims-Garage There is also gysermc, its a proxy for playing on java with a bedrock version. make it even better together with floodgate, although its a plugin and so only for paper.

@@sebasdt2103 interesting, thanks for that

There’s even a service out there that you can self-host called bedrock-connect, which allows you to get around the locked down server lists on consoles like the Switch, PS, and XBOX.

Could you forward port to the Minecraft server itself (192.16.4.20 in your example), instead of the docker container (192.168.200.50)?
