It's like, he likes to pee in his tea and then drink it and he is now pissed off because people pee in the toilers. Probably makes no sense, but.... Nobody can disprove that Paul Ryan (Not That One) pee's in his tea and then drinks it. Oh wait, now I remember. It should of been.... Paul Ryan (Not That One) pee's in his tea and drinks it and gets mad because people pee on him. Now that's a reference! It's clear that Paul Ryan (not that one) nit only has physical disability, but is also dealing with mental issues as well. His levels of paranoia are psychotic level, and mean that literally, no exaggeration. His paranoia about what others might believe about him or do to him (i.e. believing one writer knew when he goes to bed because of meds and waiting then to post an article at that time to stick it to him) have caused him to do some very harmful things to other people. He is the definition of psychopathic. Also he's clearly delusional, but anyone even without training in psychology can see that.

It's funny to hear Paul Ryan (not that one) bemoan the lack of professionalism from his unpaid reviewers. By definition, one must be paid in order to be a professional. He uses amateur writers to save a buck and is shocked when they act like amateurs (if his claims are even true). It's also bizarre that this long-time editor is apparently a borderline illiterate. His writing was riddled with errors that demonstrate a poor command of the English language. As far as I can tell, the guy isn't fit to edit a grocery list, let alone game reviews.

As sharing personal data (inc. medical information) is a breach of the 1998 Data Protection Act (section 2 subsection 1(e) specifically) and that there is a "reasonable expectation of privacy" when speaking to your employer about such matters this could lead to a prosecution being pressed by the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) which would be my first port of call before considering a private civil prosecution as any magistrate or judge in such a case would ask what the ICO said on the matter. Punishment if found in breach of the act is a fine up to £400k, but probably far less given the breach only covers 2 people's' information. A fine levied as a result of a ICO prosecution would then prevent Paul Ryan from arguing that no damage occurred in a subsequent civil court hearing making it a matter of arguing about compensation amounts.
@Nystariii7 жыл бұрын
I think it would only apply to one case though, wouldn't it? It said in the video that PR went trawling through one of the writer's FB to find the fuel for slander. If you post it on FB, it's still scummy as shit to use it against someone, but I don't think that'd count for breach of information.
@happyflea7 жыл бұрын
Except they were a freelance employee paid in kind (exposure) rather than by monetary compensation. There have been rulings on similar matters in favour of this being so with volunteers working for charities and unpaid interns. I expect the same reasonable expectation of privacy holds here.
@happyflea7 жыл бұрын
+TreeroyJ: Ah, but in English law you can enter into a contract by behavior alone (such as when you park in a car park you enter into a contract with the parking operator) in this case one would imagine (I don't know per se, but this seems likley) that there was some kind of verbal/written exchange of one person asking another to do something (write a review) in exchange for some payment (exposure) and the second party agreeing then fulfilling what is in law a contact, if a bit of a flimsy one. With this contractual business arrangement (perhaps "employed" is the wrong term, more like two persons/companies trading) comes some reasonable expectation of privacy (the phase was made deliberately wide to allow judicial precedent to define the limits though a series of test cases). Health records in precedent are treated as requiring especially good care and so with a (minimal?) level of expected privacy about a health matter as it pertains to a matter of fulfilling a contractual requirement may have been due. I'm not certain (not my area), but if they were my client I'd err on the side of giving it a go. Submissions to the ICO are free so worth a shot.

Should we make Paul Ryan (not that one) the honorary third member of Digital Homicide? It seems like he'd fit right in.
@SsnakeBite7 жыл бұрын
So basically, Ryan's justification for his actions is that the changes reviews and their scores because: - the reviewers are either inexperienced or inappropriate for the game in question, despite it being his job to ensure he assigns the right work to the right person; - that he somehow lets writers publish their work directly without requiring him to review their articles first, meaning that inspite of being chied editor, he only does any editing after the fact; - that he doesn't want to give an opinion that contradicts the general consensus despite the fact that the entire point of a review is to give your opinion on a work to help customers decide if something is worth buying, the very premise of a review being that none of them is wrong because they are entirely subjective; - and that he lets developers dictate how reviews should be written and what scores should be given, contradicting the sole purpose of a review site. Paul Ryan (not that one), when your excuse still makes you come off as an incompetent, unprofessional git in spite of it being utterly dishonest and full of outright lies, just give up while you still have a tiny shred of dignity to hold on to. And also, don't hold your writers to professional standards if you're not going to treat them like professionals. EDIT: oh and he's also one of those people who tries to spin their bullying, abusive antics as a "code of honour", said code I'm sure only affecting everyone else. Of course he would be the type.
@ComputerWhiz_7 жыл бұрын
I own my own news website and use many volunteer writers myself, but I would never treat them the way that Paul has done. When someone is working for you for free, you can't bite the hand that feeds you. Have helped a total of 3 writers get a professional job on other websites and I hope to keep doing so in the future.

It's a similar point, but a lot of viewers who make fan art, and it's then used as say a t shirt design, or turned into an emoji, or a background or whatever, rarely get compensated for it. The shit you make is worth money, no matter if you think "Oh, they're a friendly person who I like, they can use this" or "I just need to be seen to then get paid"- you spent time and effort on a thing, and if someone else is planning on using it to get paid, you sure as shit deserve to get paid too.

This video contains yet another instance of ABBA music in one of Jim's videos. Witness Jim playing Mamma Mia in the background at 6:35. For more ABBA songs in Jim's videos, view timestamp 9:13 in the Jimquisition video "Why It's Morally Okay To Pirate All Of Nintendo's Games (The Jimquisition)", as well as "Donald Trump: Gaming's Biggest Failure? (Itch.io Tasty)" in both of which he plays Money, Money, Money. One more subtle ABBA alluson can be found in this current video at 10:58 in which he says "take a chance", a clear reference to the ABBA song "Take a Chance On Me." It is a privilege to be able to bring this to you, the humble reader's attention. I will continue to fight to bring proof of ABBA's influence on the modern games media, to you, the public. You deserve more from game journalism than 70's Swedish pop bands. Don't settle for this corruption in your industry.

Do you think Not-Paul Ryan named himself Paul Ryan so that he'd be harder to find because the search engine only shows info about Not-Not-Paul Ryan?

Years ago Paul Ryan (not that one) emailed me numerous times offering unpaid work for brash. I can only presume he found me through Reef Entertainments mailing list during the time of Rambos development. Soon after I was found through LinkedIn. I probably received around 4 emails offering myself work within a fortnight. I had shown my colleague the email wondering who the hell was this creep. Years later I'm incredibly glad I refused to work for him. Paul Ryan (not that one) is a fucking ghoul that legitimately gave me the creeps when trying to scout for writers. Honestly not surprised this all came crumbling down. Even back then it felt like something didn't add up right.

I'm sitting here with a bona fide severe brain injury (car accident while running), almost 3 weeks recovered, catching up on jimquisition after falling about a month behind. There is something shockingly sleazy , shockingly, about the mere idea of other people laying out my injury as a method of discrediting my argument. By all means attack my argument, but not my disability! Frankly, I'll share it, I'm open about it to strangers on the internet and strangers at the cafeteria or in line at the drug store. But it is MY information to disclose. Wow. Now mock away, since I'm usually in bed by 8pm :D

Let's see, you don't pay them, take away writers credit if they stop working for you, and edit scores when you don't personally agree with them. So yeah, a couple hours and 400 words is more than enough for you Mr Ryan. In fact, you should be glad you even get that much. Enjoy the upcoming Libel case.

Well done mate !!! This is why I pay my patreon !!!

I don't know about Meg, but if Paul Ryan (not that one) learned of Ollie's mental issues from his Facebook page then there's no way he could (or should) be sued for that (assuming it was a public post).
@Jfieldsend947 жыл бұрын
NoeLPZC If the information was public then it was just a really sleazy and disgusting move, but I don't think megs was public knowledge, even if it was, I think you would have to check the specifics of what the actual law states. I imagine it just mentions for employers not to disclose personal details about an employer, like if they released her address, even if it was already out there he probably could still be sued.

The internet is really turning into the E-Sweat Shop of the decade. If you want to go on about unpaid and at times under age labor look no further than all those websites that use moderators, editors or even writers for no real benefit. All those people who submit articles to Wikipedia, moderate forums so the companies themselves don't have too etc. Even KZbin basically relies on users to self moderate the site, even if the Hero's program seemed to die. All this leads to people putting serious hours into a job they get no money or recognition for doing, all so a multi million dollar company doesn't have to have paid staff doing the job.
