I'd wipe the tubes with rubbing alcohol where I touched them, so that the finger oils don't get cooked and create hot-spots on the surface of the glass. Just a little something to make the tubes last longer. (I used to manufacture tubes for a living.)

great work Jim ! Today is common to get bad parts. I test each diode before installing. That part of bias circuit. Some times when a tube flashes over the diodes can either open or short out. Happens a lot on them tubes. 73

Will the tubes always burn out together, or will one of them still be usable to someone as a single unit?
