Hello have my class 2 now which i passed yesterday. Please can I ask what sat nav would you recommend. I have a TT6250 but even with truck settings it still sends me under low bridges which i can drive under.. I need a good one but not too sure which. Any info would help. Thank you

I use the jimwey sat nav in my concrete mixer due to the dust and dirt, which avoids low bridges with the settings, the best sat nav I have used is the TomTom Go Professional Truck Sat Nav much more expensive but great features. Take a look on the British Trucking Website you can find many truck sat nav options there.

@@BritishTrucking Hi Thank you for the reply the tom tom you mentioned is the one I got the go profesional £274 one. I must be doing something wrong then. Even today it kept sending me down very narrow london roads where there is no room for a lorry to go down and that a 7.5T truck today. Thank you

@@iallaway I would double check your settings width, height, weight, length etc make sure you have latest updates installed but also remember a sat nav is only an aid you should also pre plan your route and follow road signs as if the sat nav was not there.

All the cheap GPS Navigators that come directly from China or eBay or Amazon aren't configured for Large Vehicles by default! They only have maps for cars! Do you still use this Nav? How did it fair long term? Did you find any troubles? Low bridges ect? How does it fair against the expensive ones like the garmins?

I still use it daily I have had no problems at all in fact I was pleasantly surprised just how good it was compared to more expensive units.

Not sure about Garmin but when entering a post code make sure you put a space between DG12Q36 ❎ DG12 Q36 ✅ there is a space bar at bottom for the space or it is not recognised only thing I found that confused me at first 😂

Had no trouble with mine steve you can see it in the videos performing well even in a dusty mixer truck, it's got good map view and the sound is great, easy to enter post codes and vehicle dimensions it works well 👍

I have got the exactly the same software with a different name at the front. If you want cheap, go for it. but RoadLords app is 100% free from Google paly store and far better than this rubbish.

There seems to be a series of cheap makes and the software is identical. I have one called TruckNav and the vehicle profile and postcode finder menu are IDENTICAL. How do you get the lifetime updates when it has no Bluetooth nor WiFi able signal?? The way I get is by contacting the person I bought it from and ask him if there is an update.

The sat nav comes with a data cable you plug it into a pc via USB to update the maps when needed.

@@truckeralvarez5932 All truck sat navs have similar functionality the ultimate sat navs in my opinion are the TomTom Go Professional or a Garmin but they come at a premium price, depending on your job type and the need for all the functions that these high end sat navs provide, but If you don't require premium functionality such as re-routing etc then I can certainly recommend the Jimwey sat nav as a well built reliable aid to truck navigation.

have you checked in the menu that the sound is on full and not defaulted to low or off

I have done some research, if you didn't find an issue in the menu, make sure the FM is turned off as that will mute your sound 👍

For anyone who reads your comment in the future and wants to know the answer: if it's anything like the Nav Pal, just turn it off and on again. Occasionally you may have to unplug it. But anyway, always have a map as a backup-up, and look at road signs.
