Thomas the Tank Engine is the star of this new model train video that I shot in my backyard on a warm summer day... running G-scale model trains and using several different types of video cameras to give you a good look at them.
Even though this video is made for children and is you can feel totally safe putting this video on for your kids, these are not toy trains in the video... they're realistic model trains costing thousands of dollars. Creating a model train layout like this would not be possible for most families because of the extreme expense. For example, the track you see in this layout costs $7 per foot!
I expanded upon a layout that was featured in two earlier model train videos here on my KZbin channel, by adding a large run of tracks around my lawn. On a camera attached to the train, the grass looks like a field of corn or maybe even a pineapple farm.
There are other Thomas & Friends trains featured in this video besides just Thomas The Tank Engine. Paxton appears in the second half of the video, as does James the Red Engine. You might also spot Percy and Devious Diesel at a couple of points in the video.
The outdoor model train layout you see in this video only existed for a short time. It is not a permanent layout... it was just something I set up temporarily in order to make this video. I'd get bored with a permanent layout! For me, a great deal of the fun is just being creative in making a different layout every time I set up my trains.
The 3-8 year old crowd really seems to be wild for Thomas The Tank Engine, so I bet if you have a toddler, preschooler, or elementary school aged kid... they will love this video.
KZbin doesn't allow viewers to post comments on videos that are designated as "made for kids"... so, if you'd like to share a comment with me about this video, head over to my Facebook group at / jimzim
