The lyrics of this song are widely believed to be about Jin not being thought of as "as talented" as the other members. He's basically saying that he might not be able to fly like them (although he definitely can, love him so much), but that he will try nonetheless, no matter how hard it may be.

I think RM actually did say he didn't write with the intention that it was about Jin but he later realized it was what Jin was actually feeling so I do think it is about him

I actually find this song more comforting than sad. Yeah sure it talks about not being able to fly but ultimately it is about accepting reality (as opposed to being caught up in dreams), understanding your limitations and persevering despite it all

Jin worked on the composition of this song! He recorded like 20 melodies a day until he found 7 or 8 he liked, and the producers picked this one that he was going to delete 😭

When I saw the notification for the first video I clicked on it 48 seconds after it was uploaded and it was already blocked :((((( Kim Seokjin is a wonderful human being, beautiful inside and out. He's so good at conveying the message and emotions of the songs he sings and writes (I'm not crying thinking about This Night, you are). As a listener, you can't help but be affected by his singing and vocals. Awake is a gorgeous song, his vocals are so clear and stable on the recorded version and even better live. I really like the grandeur of this song, it's dramatic and theatrical in a subtle way, like an orchestra or symphony rather than a stage production. It's elegant and smooth and just all around lovely. The lyrics are kind of sad but it's still just really really sweet. It really shows what type of person he is that he's saying that he doesn't think he's exceptional (he is) but he wants to keep going for as long as he can anyway. He's very kind and thoughtful and introspective. Introvert gang, unite (separately). And I understand what you mean when you say it's something you'll listen to daily, it's a very emotional song and you have to be in the right frame of mind to dive into that. Did you catch the part when Jin said he was clutching 6 flowers? Since Jin is singing the song (1,) wh at could the 6 be? I've heard it said that since he doubted his talent so. much that this song is about him giving all the support he possibly could to the 6 members he wanted really wanted to fly with. So they could all use their beautiful Wings. 💜♾

I love that you appreciated the level changing and the wings on the screen. Those are so impactful to me. Just hits me deep ya know? I always thought of his song as something sad, but apparently it's about Jin knowing his limits but still constantly pursuing on working on becoming a better performer.
