Max lay calmly by the blazing fire. As the blizzard outside raged on, he could only think of his kind-hearted owner. _I wonder where she could be?_ he thought, wagging his fluffy tail at the thought of her gentle pats. It had been nearly a year since she’d departed on a journey into the moss filled wilderness. Though Max was saddened by her departure, he knew that she simply couldn’t abandon him and his pack. His mind now filled with toasty memories of his owner, the pup drifted off to sleep. Suddenly, the rickety kennel door began to budge. Max sniffed the air anxiously, his brain boiling with possibilities of who it could be. _Raleigh? Someone from the league? Wait... that’s a familiar scent..._ His owner burst through the door, snow covering her pine cone colored hair. The pack showered her with kisses and wagged their tails. She had finally returned. :)
