The talent all 4 of them have is special - to have them all play together is exceptional! The way they can play together towards their intentions, have it be seamless, and still unconventional is the draw. I have seen them live 3 times and just can't wait for the next time! 🤘🤘

@@bobcieslinski You will not be disappointed. Jinjer is that band, the one I just get excited for, I watch in awe. They are also that band that you can just listen to live in front of you and no matter who you focus on, you can hear their part in the concert of music coming at you. Vlad is impeccable, Roman just makes it look effortless, and Eugene jams while missing not a note. Then you fix on Tati and really see how talented she is as she transitions and looks like a 16 year old just having so much fun.

I heard and read this in the last few years: What is crazy is that they've said that the guys compose the music first, then they give demos to Tatiana she finds inspiration for title and lyrics, and weaves her vocal composition into the guys' music. The guys have said they don't know what Tatiana is going to sing about until she shows up in the studio, and she's said that "they don't even ask me" about what the music should be. How that works so seamlessly is beyond me... thanx a lot for another great reaction on a great, great song, warm greetings from a german musician

Hey nice to hear from you again. That totally blows me away. I feel like it usually works with lyrics first then the music to back it up. What a unique way of arranging and composing. It’s always amazing too!

Eugene who is also the manager says they don't know what Tatiana is going to sing until they get to the studio. Tati has said "they don't even ask me" though she has a standing request for more reggae and they'll extend a part if she needs to get more lyrics in. I think they've gotta be composing with some idea that there has to be room for lyrics, but also Tatiana loves improvisation and with the Macro album that was composed with severe time constraints Eugene said she just came with lyrics and improvised the vocal composition. I feel like the emphasis on the musical composition first helps balance the creative input between Tatiana and the guys. Also, constraints can be a good spur for creativity, and since any of the guys can take the lead in composing a piece there's a lot of different inputs into the creative process and different musical ideas for Tati to use as a starting point for her work.

I think what amazes me the most about the way they compose is just how well Tatiana manages to create vocal lines to rhythmically, harmonically and melodically fit with such rhythmically, harmonically and melodically complex and unconventional music.

I've heard the same thing in several different interviews over the years. Not being a singer or musician, it sounds like a somewhat unorthodox way to write songs/music, but for them it just works beautifully! I saw a recent interview where the band is talking about their next album and Eugene was talking about how they Vladi and the guys compose the music and make the demos for Tati. He made it a point to say that with a vocalist like Tati who is able to sing multiple styles and vocal ranges, they don't have to restrict themselves in the music they compose. I thought that was a tremendous compliment and something that must certainly set them apart from almost any other band.

Not only that, apparently she writes the lyrics in Russian first, and then translates them to English! And somehow, she makes the rhythm and rhymes fit. She has said herself that she doesn't quite know how she does it.

Hey Bob. My favorite song from the Wallflowers album. Love how low Tatiana gets near the end. She has said that the song is dedicated to everyone like her, that spends so much time thinking about their inner world, they start to be consumed by the dark thoughts. And says not to dive so deeply. I agree , Vlad is awesome, glad he has solidified the position. They had 4 other drummers in the 7 years before he joined in 2016.

Some people (reactors, too... they're people, right? ;-) think what they're seeing is a swirling vortex from space or something with some kind of awesome trash monster game-like character, when what they're actually witnessing is the brutal place that is Tatiana's troubled inner psyche of uncontrollable thoughts and emotions. On their YT channel, Jinjer has each of the three instrumentalists playing their part to this (and a few other) songs, in isolation. Each is amazing to watch. I honestly think that that, in some passages, Eugene and Roman write the 'strings part as if it is one giant 4 handed instrument, with a focus on interplay/counterpoint (if that's a thing) between the two musicians. To me, the bass line often paints a picture around the 'entire song's ' rhythm, in much the same way Vlad does... sorry, "words are hard" today, and I'm not typing my thoughts clearly. Example : in the mid-section, before the library is torn apart, just before the band plays that 7-legged-horse-gallop ("that's an interesting section")... listen to the slides from Eugene... rather than play in unison with Vlad, Eugene marks off a boundary around the meter with his slides... it keeps the time', but not in the conventional sense. So great, and it looks like it'd be fun to play. FYI. Roman tends to play very, very thick gauge strings. Notice how a note-bend is rarely (never?) heard from the guitar? I believe he often uses a 013 on the high E Not for the timid.... bring your flat-picking acoustic callouses to a Jinjer session.

Based on what Tatiana said in her interview with Elizabeth at the Charismatic Voice. If I'm understanding their process correctly. The guys in the band come up with the musical score and send a recording of it to Tatiana and then she writes the lyrics to the song. Then they go into the studio and meld the two and work out the kinks.

Tatiana has said that vortex is about dark thoughts. I'm guessing she was meaning more along the line of anxiety attacks but she couldn't find her words during that interview. Since the days of Covid lockdowns I was watching a lot of KZbin reactors to various types of music - literally hundreds and hundreds. And I've seen really good ones - and I've seen awful ones. Your's is definitely not that bad😉 ... BUT: pausing every few seconds for a comment ruins absolutely the dynamic of the song! Especially of Jinjer songs - and I know them nearly all. To Vortex I have listened quite a few times, and that song deserves to listen to the dynamic of rising tension! So, what I learned of listening to good reactors is: 1. stop not more than two or three times while listening to the song, 2. keep comments while pausing short, 3. NEVER stop when there is a solo (you didn't do this, did you?), and 4. after listening to the end of the song sum all your comments up in a final conclusion. That's the way good reactors do - and if they are real experts in their field (professional musicians) I really could learn something! Of course, you can do what you want - but we can improve what we are doing listening to valid critics, right? I hope you can look at my critic in a constructive way - because it was never meant to insult you!🙂
