N-type cells are basically the opposite formation of the P-type cell. They have a silicon base infused with phosphorus creating an overall negative charge.Among them are the n-layer and the p-layer, which are separated by a transition layer, the p-n junction. The layers consist mainly of silicon. In order to use the photovoltaic effect to generate electricity, the n-layer (top) is enriched with phosphorus atoms and thus has an excess of electrons. The greater purity of the N-type silicon allows for higher efficiency, less degradation over time and lower energy losses. This leads to more power generation and higher performance over the panel's lifetime, outweighing the extra upfront cost when purchasing. The greater purity of the N-type silicon allows for higher efficiency, less degradation over time and lower energy losses. The LONGI HIMO6 photovoltaic panel is designed to maximise light absorption, without any shading from the bus bar on the front face of the panel. This allows for better performance in conditions of high temperature, low irradiation and higher energy gain. While LONGi's Hi-MO5 is based on p-type M10 PERC cells, the Hi-MO6 family uses back contact cell technology, though allegedly p-type, unless the other commercial IBC manufacturers. The new Hi-MO7 panels are incorporating n-type TOP Con cell technology. Taiyang News team is present at SNEC.
