The answer to your question about watering fields at night is because in most cases during water season everyone has a alloted time slot to water their crops and not every land has direct access to water channel. And because crops need to be watered at specific stage and every farmer needs water at the same time, the slots are alloted to each of them. And farther away the land from the water channel the later slot you get and sometimes people have to water at midnight or at odd hours.

@@evilspellz well in that case another reason for watering at night is because during daylight water evaporates and it takes more time to supply adequate water to the crop. So some farmers in order to reduce labour hours tend to water their fields in night time so that the work can be done in a shorter time because in night as u know due to absence of sunlight evaporation doesn't take place and hence all the water is absorbed by land. And another reason is the hot climate during day time and because my ancestral village and lands are also in Khairpur so I have witnessed personally that specially in Summer times fields are watered in night. But nowadays due to increase in Solar powered tube wells this practice is reduced significantly, now only those lands are watered at night which are connected with irrigation system.

@@evilspellz No its not watering by tube well. Actually this is canal water, supplied by government for agriculture farming. So mostly time slot for watering the fields is night or early morning. Sometimes people also steal the water at night from their neighbors and many cases in tehsil courts are the about watering related thefts and quarrels. Hope i cleared your question.

The reason for watering the fields in the night or before sunrise is to minimise evaporation and the field absorbs all the water , in old times farmers use dry leaves which help minimise evaporation , this is called mulching

In night water evaporation is very less from soil so water remain longer in the field and crops with good quality. In the garden we also give water in morning and evening for the same reason

Neez, khet fields chun ke huge hoti he, to pani poori field me aate aate waqt lag jata hai, lehaza us hisab se earlier timing per pani dene ka procrss start karna parta hai..
