Great job on the playlist for this Cherry (& Jino too, ofcourse) it felt like back when we'd all gather to watch a new performance or concert of BTS's here online (in KZbin or where ever). (By the way THANK YOU for your TRANSLATIONS in RUN BTS & other shows, it's made me understand the shows so much more !) We love sharing BTS moments with all who come from all over the world & hang out here, our fellow ARMYS & you Jino. It's been hard missing the guys (BTS) appearing regularly in my news feed (on every app I use) lol, but thanks to you Jino (& Roscoe, WhatchaGot2Say, Mexinese Family, the other awesome reactors I watch regularly) who faithfully comes to virtually 'visit us every week, we're getting through it. I hope you & all the reactor's who are good people like you, KNOW how BELOVED you truly are by all of us subscribers. Things like this video are a big reason WHY we're all so devoted to the people/channels/ hosts that we are, because you (& they) are REAL & good people who CARE about your subscibers, & others. We can tell when a person being REAL in a video, or a live stream, You are for real & that's why you're so good at what you do. Yes, you're funny, entertaining, opinionated (justly so) & you love your cats a lot, but WHY people watch & then STAY is bc you're a kind man, considerate, thoughtful, pretty frickin' honest & grateful too. You are a REAL friend (to us.) You really do connect with people & I hope you know how much your presence in our lives regularly means to us. We value & look forward to your 'visits', you know? We may not have met in the flesh but WE do feel we know YOU. Thanks for helping us get through BTS's break time , just like you've been helping thou-sands of us worldwide, to get through millions of things we deal with. Each person here gets immense strength & laughter from seeing you purse your lips when a song's great...lol,.....but seriously, that DOES give me life. Ha ha. ***** NOTE TO ARMYS: If you're down or struggling, please repeat this phrase 5 times, it's helped me get through A LOT; "THIS TOO, WILL PASS". Please know that I send you LOVE & ALL the MILLIONS of ARMYS also send you love & strength & SO DOES BTS. We're all together, by our hearts (no matter the miles between us). Reach out when you need help, don't keep suffering alone. If you can't make your way back & feel you're truly depressed, tell someone close to you, get some input & help to figure out what you can do next to combat it. So many go through it, your friends & family likely have themselves so they'll know how to assist you to get back to yourself. There is help, ok? I lmpw, I recovered myself. Give yourself a BIG HUG from me & from Jino, Cherry & all the ARMYS here, ok? Life hurts sometimes, & I know it can get bad, but there are also so many beautiful moments, laughter, joy & I promise you, there's alot more of that in your future. Things WILL BE O.K., they WILL get worked out. Please be KIND to yourself & do something good for you, meditate 5 mintes,, go our in the sun, call a friend or sibling, parent, they miss you too. You can & will get better, so be good to you because you deserve it, dear. (Ask for help from a friend, relative &/or from up above, you'll be surprised what happens). 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

One day at a time, fellow ARMY, just take each day as it comes you only need to do oneday at a time, not the future or past either; but live IN today with joy & smile for all they've done & become and also for all you've become while knowing them too.. We've all grown. inside & outside so remember that all of us, millions, will be doing the same as you & our amazing BTS too are doing; getting through the separation while looking forward to the happiest of reunions ahead of us. Take strength from their example; they didn't especially want to go away for months, to train military wise; or to have to take the break from their very successful lives (after working so hard to get where they got) but their tradition in South Korea remains & it's a fair way to have a nation's males prepared to defend the nation's freedom if it should ever become necessary, so because they love their homeland ofcourse our guys are doing their duty, even tho it had to be tough for them each to go do it. I decided to think of it this way: *** Maybe this needed to happen so that these young men are quite trained & able to defend & protect themselves, eachother &/or their nation because maybe one day they'll NEED to know all they're learning now; to keep them safe. So look at this time as a wise investment in their overall lives that's going to help KEEP them safe, which we all want for them all their lives, right? They will return & they're missing ARMYS too, so I keep thinking; isn't it an honor to be one of the ones who waits for them to return ?

Jino, how about doing a show explaining, discussing the origin and concept of fan service, skinship, and aegeyo in K-pop. Why is it popular? Why do the management companies push it. Does it negatively impact the artist or do they just see it as acting? Would K-pop survive without it? Thanks for all that you do in presenting an informed view of the industry with your reactions and discussions.
@ipurpleu1668 Жыл бұрын
I think at this point in time, it would definitely survive without it. At one point, ships/fan service/aegeyo definitely helped make groups popular, but nowadays you really don't see it anymore. As an example, thinking of BTS, a few years back there was a significantly bigger 'shipping' presence. I don't think it was ever as bad as One Direction or even EXO, but it definitely was there. Nowadays, you barely see any 'real' shipping amongst BTS fans. You see a lot of the cute stuff, fan fiction still, things like that, but the REAL shipping (as in actually believing in it or it being the reason for fans), you don't see that anymore. Also, years ago, ships were more popular than the actual groups for a lot of situations, but you don't see that anymore either. I don't think I can even name any popular 4th generation ships. Most of the international fans (which is what is really making Kpop get bigger and bigger) focus on the music, or even visuals, MVs, how funny the members are, etc. You don't really see people come for the shipping anymore.

@@ipurpleu1668 I appreciate your response. I am from the West and have only been into K-pop or more specifically, BTS since January of this year as Army. I have become acutely aware of shipping via BTS and the hatred it has caused specifically towards Jimin, and to some extent against Jungkook and Taehyung. I see all of the members being shipped with each other and members of Blackpink, But the BTS maknae line is the worst. I have seen videos pop up of 4th gen groups, but honestly I don’t really follow them, so can’t speak to that content. I agree with you that I don’t think it is needed. Especially, with the artistry and maturity of BTS. I recognize that we in the west look at these practices through a different lens, but some of the biggest shippers are grown women here in the west. Anyway, I wanted to get Jino’s input as a Korean man, father in the business and Jino in the music industry as a western DJ.
@prisharai7225 Жыл бұрын
Ik you're asking Jino but I'll give my perspective lol. I think management companies push it + it is popular because companies realized the importance of a very dedicated fanbase rather than just generally liking an artist. How do you do that? You get viewers to basically "fall in love" with the idol. A major factor of the idea of idols is perfect people, with talent, and good looks, that are almost like dolls that do whatever the fans want of them. They are performers in every aspect, and this is a major reason why a lot of people look/looked down on them. Aegyo was already a concept in Korea as well. When they mostly want to attract the opposite gender of the group itself, then they need the idols themselves to seem as attractive as possible, so they do that with fan service and aegyo. Now for skinship within groups, skinship in general in Korea among the same gender is very normal, much more so that in the West. Then people already know that people like to ship or see attractive people with other attractive people. It's already a very common idea, even in the East for girls to ship two men they find attractive with one another and find it "hot" when they do skinship with one another. I don't really love the idea of sexualizing queer relationships, especially when they still aren't generally accepted well in these countries, but that's another topic lmao. Companies are/were capitalizing on what they already knew was popular because once again, more attraction = more fans, which of course = more moneyyy. However I do agree with the other person replied, I do think there is much less emphasis on this compared to previous gens of kpop because companies figured out other ways, better ways to get fans, especially with seeing what popular groups were doing and why they were liked. Especially as kpop became more world wide, they realized that fans liked seeing them as real genuine people much more, and highlighted performance and behind the scenes content much more. But, I think they will still always keep things like fan service as a part of idol culture, because it did work.

@@nikonladyd4509 I truly don't think the shipping wars (hatred of Jimin, Tae, or JK) is anywhere how it was or is talked about. At one point, sure I guess it was there amongst shippers mostly. But nowadays, Jimin doesn't get significant hate about it at all. Remember even if you see things on Twitter or KZbin, the reality is that most BTS fans like BTS and like the members. Shippers of any ship will make up things or blow things out of proportion. There has NEVER (even in 'prime' shipping days) been real effects of shippers within BTS. BTS members have never hidden their friendships, members have never been hit by a lack of support, it's never hit the media, etc because of shipping. Also remember that most people who like shipping, don't actually 'believe' in them. (I would actually say a very small amount of people believe in BTS ships, they just are kinda loud) Compare that to 'Larry Stylinson' (the big ship of One Direction), which DID do all of that and significantly affected the band. Be careful where you learn information from when it comes to shipping. Both Jikook and Taekook (the two biggest 'ships) fans blow things out of the water all the time. It doesn't seem to affect the members' behaviors or attitudes or solo careers or anything at all (besides just them thinking it's weird), so it's not really worth worrying about.

@@prisharai7225 I appreciate your response as well. You discussed some of the reasons behind it that I have read. I agree with you about sexualizing queer relationships or the concept of queer baiting with fanservice/skinship. But, yes that is another topic. 😏 If it is dying down, I am glad to hear that. Unfortunately, I watched some shipping content and now YT’s algorithms keep sending it in my feed. Maybe that is why I thought it is still prevalent.
