Having been hit in the face and sustaining facial fractures, I have HUGE empathy for what these guys risk. Unlike boxing, this is just one of many types of injuries they risk- not only in the ring but in training. Many injuries occur outside the fight ring when there is little pay to compensate for the risk. The toll fighting takes on the body over the years is like driving your car at 100% light to light. Green, 100% acceleration, then standing on brakes to slow.

@martinasrna11083 жыл бұрын
Because MMA combine different types of combat sports and one of them is muay thai where elbows belong. UFC is still light, in Rizin (where Jiri spent 5 years fighting) are allowed also kicks and knees to the head of grounded oponent. Check Prochazka/Satoshi Ishi fight where Jiri finished him with two nasty knees to the head on the ground. Or his fight with Nemkov where he kicked him to the face to make him stand up. Lot of Jiris nastiness comes from Japan.

If you lose, not only do you get embarrassed being beaten up in front of thousands of people (and many more at home watching) but you only get 1/2 your pay, each loss threatens the viability of your career (each loss is basically a demotion), AND you potentially suffer some horrific injuries which Brian brilliantly illustrated.
