You should use copper wire because it's more conductive than brass wire

The current requirements of this are so low that the wire resistance isn't an issue.

How did you make the LEDs flash on one badge

These LEDs have special micro chips inside them. Just power them and they flash, no external control required.

Those are blinking LEDs. They already have a blinking circuit built inside of them, so they don't require any external components to blink. Only power. There are even RGB LEDs that slowly change color on their own when powered up.

@@prateeksrivastava8470 There are lots of those. I don't know which ones are used in this project. You can go to ebay and search for "flashing LED SMD" and you'll find a lot of different kinds.

Interesting, as I've always learned that you shouldn't "paint" with solder, instead heat the work piece then apply it. But here "painting with solder" seems to be the best way to do it.

These are special LEDs that contains integrated circuit inside. They can do various effects depending on type - changing color, blinking, fading, ...
