There was a big sale on the 12 V set here in Canada ....I already had it but bought it again because the batteries are wicked expensive here in Canada so I ended up with 2 of everything a new charger and the 2 batteries for less than the price of 2 batteries by themselves

@jeremynoakes I know it's crazy how much the darn batteries are ...my buddy told me the whole kit will be less or the same price and I was like No way ! Sure enough ...got the whole set for less than 2 Batts and a charger

@@maritimespook ended up getting that 12 v impact kit right after Last Sunday Amazon Canada had the 3/8 impact 12v for 98 bucks tool only so it’s coming today Lowes and Canadian tire has the 12v drill kit on sale for 129 cad but I do t need another drill . Maybe it if was a hammer drill I would get it but I’ll save my money to see what sales are on labour day weekend

Good comparison of platforms, I have the older set of 12v (brushed motor) will the new 12v extreme batteries work in my tools (drill, impact driver and recip saw)?

Thank you, If those older brushed 12v tools hade slide in batteries like these ones I think they'll work in the new tools. I have an old brushed 12v impact and it's battery works in the new tools and vice versa. new batteries for that old tool too.

I' looking for a beginner drill that can handle concrete, bricks and tile. Would the 12 V drill be able to handle it? I'm working in my bathroom.

You'll get more pep out of the 12v tools if you use the DeWalt 5ah battery.

I've got a Dewalt 18v circular saw, jig saw and 2 drills - great tools! When they finally die, I will replace them with 20v tools.

​@@luisodriozola79 They are not the same. Same voltage(18v) but the 20v is the new line. If you already have the older 18v, no "need" to upgrade but if you are going to be buying new, i prefer the newer 18v "20v"s.

I saw a video where it was discussed that the 18V and the 20V are pretty much the same thing. Its just a marketing thing for the most part. Also, the 20V Max just means that the battery charges uo to 20V, and then when you press that trigger it drops to 18V. The 12V is only a 10.6V but we all round up and just refer to it as 12V. Why would I do that? I bought both kits with my hard earned money. What purpose would that serve to manipulate the tests?

@@jiujitsu2000 not on purpose, you just need to take a tool faster or slower, a screw that falls, etc. you're wasting time.. you need to stop the time between screws and start counting only from the moment you start the drills . And thats more fair ....
