77 years later and Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" is still one of the greatest swing songs ever written. Only surpassed (maybe) by Benny Goodman's version of Sing Sing Sing by Louis Prima.

The hardest thing for me is to watch this with the music turned up and feeling the energy but not being able to dance... this was my life almost every day as a teen. We were always dancing somewhere, the gym at school, the Greek Orthodox church near my house, the lounges nearby or the bowling alley...in the den at my house, at friends houses...we were dancing fools!!☺️ Now I'm old and my time for dancing is past. Thank you for sharing this awesome video! Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤

Fun fact, The MasterMixers are a duo that went on after their Jive Bunny days to create and run a massively popular Hard House label called Tidy Trax here in the UK. My old supervisor was best man at one of the duo's wedding and they've been friends since childhood. Back in the day he told me the record publisher bought this very song for £50, yet it went on to be Number 1 in the Uk charts for multiple weeks and must have made the publisher a fortune. When I called BS he bought in a photo from back then of my supervisor wearing the costume and holding the head (as was seen on Top of The Pops). They then went on to make vinyl mashups (a tonne of them 30+ volumes) and my supervisor did a few tracks on them, mostly of house records. Tidy Trax came about after that in the 90s and was sold in the mid 2000s but they rebought it about ten years ago. This Jive Bunny was the first ever album I bought (was on tape, I played it to death and know all the little bits by heart even now apparently) and I was about 8 y/o, so to find that out all that in my late twenties was mad. The first CDJ I owned came from their studio (the second guy producer name was "Bulletproof" and the first guy changed his name in his teens by law to be Amadeus Mozart!). Just thought I'd share for all those Jive lovers out there. Pretty sure this album back then told me I was born in totally the wrong era, I loved upbeat music esp from that period, the dancing and ladies in dresses, and would one day take up DJing which is essentially what Jive Bunny was, but a produced megamix of tunes as opposed to doing it live.

This goes beyond dance. It's a couple's expression of an era (with new zeal) - the facial expressions, the originality of musical interpretation, and the expressive language through each move. A contemporary and entertaining harmony of dual rhythm. They cover (& well rehearse) all the details to recreate the magic of 'someplace else'. I am still in that 'someplace else'. Thank you.

This was a Glen Miller song, it was great, then the good ole old time rock and roll era. Wonderful music. Still great.

I was playing Glen Miller, "In the mood" on my phone in the mall, just sitting there enjoying my break, tapping my foot moving my legs and a woman walked by and said "Oh yeah" and started dancing so I got up and joined her. I had no idea who she was and never danced with her before. We missed a couple steps but nailed all the rest. We got so caught up in the moment we did not notice the crowd of people watching from both levels. Song ended and they all clapped. I turned beet red and made a new friend.

@@sooz9433 You are a darling. Read another post you made. "The hardest thing for me is to watch this with the music turned up and feeling the energy but not being able to dance... this was my life almost every day as a teen". So you were one of those teens living in the moment, congrats. I'm smiling imaging you running here and there, care free and loving life. Were you in to the Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello era, before, later, Steppenwolf or when? It would complete the picture I have in my mind. I myself was in foster homes, a run away etc., was in the army at 17 joined in 1973 till 1983. Now that time in the army was the dance time for me. Discos in Panama City, Panama Canal Zone, Germany : American rock. Back in the states things were different, more of the bar dancing crowd it seemed, lol and I don't drink, but that's the crowd shooting pool and dancing to live bands. Now, nothing like that, I have to mind P's & Q's, cant afford to bust up my body. Your comments are really awesome, gave you a 1/100,000 of a second of your youth back. That's better than not going back. Last few years I tend to live in my past. Do construction (tile contractor) usually have a house to myself, cranking the ipod music from my past, sing, remanence, thoughts darting everywhere. Times when I bawl like a baby for a minute, missing my past. Remember David Cassidy (Partridge Family fame). When he died with his daughter by his side his last words I always remember were "So much wasted time". Guess its easy to judge ourselves now that the gig is nearing its end. But at the moment we lived for the moment. So hopefully you still find time to keep dropping in and finding old memories flirting back to the forefront and give your self the biggest grin knowing that when you were that young before life showed up, young enough to have danced yourself silly. Congrats honey, you lived a marvelous youthful life. Remember George Burns song "I wish I was 18 again". Listen to it here on You Tube, certain lyrics in it are real soul breakers. Bye Sooz cherish our days darling. "He said, I'll never again Turn the young ladies heads Or go running off into the wind I'm three quarters home From the start to the end And I wish I was eighteen again I wish I was eighteen again And going where I've never been But old folks and old oaks Standing tall just pretend I wish I was eighteen again Now time turns the pages And, oh, life goes so fast The years turn the Black hair all grey
