I recommend you read O’Neill’s book ‘The High Frontier’, which explains it all. The problem which that book highlighted was that, although crucial for the continued growth of the.economy and solving the inevitable problem of finite resources, the idea could never be sold to the voters. Enter ‘The Billionaires We Had To Have’. Musk is a unique kind of autistic narcissist. His professed concern for the future of humanity is a coverup. He knows exactly what an asteroid is worth. The asteroid belt has mineral resources tens of thousands times the total available on Earth. The biggest mining operation in history. Colonies on Mars for altruistic reasons ? Musk ? @c4call2 күн бұрын
The vast majority of regulations actually help larger companies sustain majorities or monopolies of market shares by eliminating smaller competitors who cannot afford those same costs. Most companies measure success on profits and market share. So long as they are gaining market shares and the economy is not in recession, then they always make more money. If the economy is barely growing due to regulations that also strangle your competition, the larger you are, the happier you'll be with that dynamic.

I think if you've studied Jeff more, it would be easier to see that he actually believes in people starting businesses. He's often quoted for saying things along the lines of people are lazy and whatnot but its about this larger ideology that building a business as big as Amazon is far more attainable than people think it is (in his mind) enough that it's worth trying, amazon is actually not just structured to introduce people to the business world but to sort of encourage them to become fed up with the b.s and move on to the next step. Tired of working like a dog? Start a business, you could easily get into drop shipping. There's literally tens of thousands of people making a living an beyond doing that. Is it easy? No. Is it reasonably attainable by a regular person? Absolutely. Tired of the b.s amazon puts you through with this almost random competition you're in with other people trying to sell the same thing as you? Tired of spending thousands on product shoots just for someone else's photos to be thrown on top of yours because some algorithm decided to? Good, sell it somewhere else. Anyone who has developed their skills with dropshipping to a point they're ready to approach these other challenges absolutely has a shot. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of products which reach profitability every year and many of them arent even available on Amazon. I have my reservations about the guy myself, I personally think he takes his ideology a little farther than he should. But I also think if he wasn't so misunderstood, it would be such a positive impact on the people of this country. He "hates poor people" because he's disgusted by all the wasted potential. I agree and feel the same way. How many people are sitting at home, getting fat, playing videogames in mom's basement, no real sex life, no real relationships but if they just applied themselves and tried, could be giving a guy like Jeff a run for his money? Probably a lot. Really, probably a lot. I get where he's coming from. People don't realize how insulting their laziness and lack of self esteem can be to people who went against everyone's advice and became successful. But then are the first people to call you evil for doing not even what they couldn't do, simply what they CHOSE, not to even attempt.

@@chucklakeridge7944 I would rate myself modestly by saying I think I’m above average for understanding how the government works, but far from being an expert. Still it makes sense if the system you’re operating is the wealthiest in the world, then you are best in class. So then you might ask why do they want to fix it? My answer to that is cutting government means reducing expenses, which means more money in the treasury, which means it’s easier to implement tax cuts and tax cuts favor the already wealthy. it’s a way for musk, Vivek and Trump to line their own pockets. Always follow the money.

quality of life everywhere in the 3rd world has improved. But in the U.S it has definitely declined. especially people trying to keep a roof over their heads. We need to build so much housing to where homes become very affordable again. but we should also build them tough and built to last.
@martello446 күн бұрын
The trouble is reducing government is not the solution to the problem that you describe. The reason that normal people can’t buy normal homes is the way the tax system is set up. Most of the wealth generated by this country goes to the wealthy. So the issue is really the wealth is not well distributed. Many of the wealthy have multiple homes while normal people can’t even afford single homes.
@Mike-jv8bv6 күн бұрын
@@martello44 red tape always benefits the already wealthy. I said, about the fact that the 99% get poorer every year, "neither trump nor the democrats are even trying". It is actually WORSE than that. Both parties keep us focused on whatever minor differences we might have about social issues so we won't focus on the fact that we are getting poorer. And I remember when this started. It was about the time that the 99% were camped in tents on wall street and in DC. Right after the big housing crash, during which normal people suffered and the fat cats who caused it were still on the take. Thats when social issues started becoming a big deal.
