I also believe Jj left due to the tension between him and costar Kiara after some drama transpired between her and jj's girlfriend who worked behind the scene. It explains why they were hardly intimate. The man you love is dying and you wont even kiss him goodbye? Not natural.

To be honest it WAS out of nowhere but it was necessary. I honestly didn’t take the scene seriously at first because I thought plot armor would save him but I forgot about his crimes Groff got the crown so I expected him to just run away with it. I didn’t even know about the alleged drama between JJ and Kie’s actors so I was surprised yes but not confused. I knew someone of the group had to die, 4 seasons in and no deaths is impossible with a show like this. It’s all about the risk and the consequences the characters face JJ had already caused too much damage beyond repair. Shoupe said they could get their charges dropped, and sure maybe everyone else could’ve because they just aided and abetted, but JJ? Realistically, he was never going to walk free even if they handed him Groff because the crimes he committed were unrelated to Groff, it was because of their home. It seemed like JJ’s paths were either jail, living on the run or dying, which is what they went with. All they have to do is honor it now and not screw up on S5

Grear character but i agree with the decision. 4 seasons they have been going against pirates, corrupt cops, killers, gangs, etc and they always came out untouched. JJ was the most reckless one and all around just had less to lose. but i have a theory: (read it all) :jj will not die. the show wont do as good because no one will watch season five if jj dies . in the end, jjs real dad looks at his hands covered in his son's blood and he looks worried and full of regret. he then immediately heads somewhere. we can only assume that he is going to where jj is burried and goes to undo his death using the blue crown. they have hinted way too much that the blue crown is obviously full of great power. meaning it will be used for something. that something meaning to undo jjs death. Plus, Rudy pankow (who plays jj) OR the writers, never CONFIRMED jjs death. ( at least i don’t think ) so even if he is dead, he wont be for long.

kiara could have saved him if her trauma response wasn’t to freeze. which i think is really interesting actually because now she’s going to agonize over all the ways she could have done something differently to save him. i don’t blame her for being in shock and i think the writers are setting up her revenge arc in a super cool way. JJ was her boyfriend and she has the added bonus that she could have done something, as opposed to the other pogues whose only drive is that JJ was their best friend. kiara’s guilt will hopefully be what ensures that she kills groff because it would be awesome if she’s the one who does it (if he dies at all, which i really hope he does)

I’m only on e7 of season 4, but already had it spoiled for me so I wanted to prepare myself. I’m not gonna lie, I had a love hate for JJ, he always deserved so much and deep down he’s a good kid but then he just keeps getting screwed over. on the other hand, he always annoyed me. he always did things that messes everything up, time and time again he gets into trouble and screws over the whole group. the scene was actually gut wrenching even though I wasn’t the biggest JJ fan, but even then the amount of times the group has escaped death, it only makes sense that someone finally doesn’t make it out.

Personally, this is a very stupid mistake to make. This kind of show when all of the producers and cast know that JJ Maybank was in fact the crowd favorite so getting rid of him means that the show is he is most likely skyrocket to the ground and the audience will most likely lose interest in watching the show when I know that their favorite character and the heart of the show is no longer in the show personally I think that this was a reason outside of the writing it may have been a actor decision and not a director decision because when knowing that Rudy was the favorite, they most likely wouldn’t have taken him out
