The intersect with Route 17 is known as the Height of the Land and is overlooking Mooselookmeguntic Lake. I've been there several dozen times en route to camping at Rangeley Lake State Park. This is my favorite part of this beautiful state. So happy you had such a beautiful day to see that spot that is so dear to so many including me. I really appreciate your level of detail in how much you're enjoying this journey. From the beautiful vistas to the little mushrooms, you take it in better than anyone I've ever watched. Thank you for the journey, please stay safe, happy trails, and thank you for taking us along my fellow vet. God bless you both - The lobster roll man - Chris.

Often watching your video's of the trail is calming, but I have never been more calm with the soft piano music play with the rays of sunlight bouncing off the clouds in the dense forest. Thanks for taking me to my happy place. ☺

Can't believe you are almost to Katahdin! We lived in Maine, Vermont and now Tennessee. Live close to AT now and we love watching your adventures... we anxiously await the next batch of videos which are always stunning! Thanks for bringing us all along, it can't be easy carrying the extra weight of your equipment. Much appreciated!

@S M Tennessee is a beautiful state with different types of beauty depending on where you are. I've been to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and that's a beautiful forest area with tons of hiking opportunities. Eastern Tennessee is where the beautiful mountainous area is.

You've mentioned sweating quite a bit in recent videos. I don't know about you, but I sweat soooooo much when I'm recovering from a viral illness. Not exactly sure about the physiological reasons for it, and I've never inquired about if this is a common phenomenon, but it would make sense that your body is trying to sweat out the remnants of covid for you. That's my hypothesis, anyway! Good hiking to you both, and I hope you continue to recover well and enjoy the last leg of your hike.

Hey There 'Wrong Way Jay'! You guys are making such good progress, as it turns out, you're really the only thru-hiker that I have regularly followed this season. At this point, I have been retired since the end of July and am preparing to make my move out of the Florida Keys to Virginia where I will be living a little less than a hour from the AT. Should be a good opportunity to begin getting in better shape to start my thru-hike in February of 2023. Hiking on t he flat, paved, sea-level Overseas Highway Trail here in the Keys is good exercise at my age but it does not really prepare one for the AT. Waiting to see you two summit Katahdin!

Great going capturing those videos and still doing hard miles in the heat. I know what it is like to be hot when it is only 80 degrees. I know you have experience with digital photography so I have a question about why gold wedding bands look dark or black. Am I missing something about the rings color?
@jeremyupham75902 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, those grouse with the red near their eyes you keep seeing are called Spruce Grouse. Illegal to hunt in Maine. They have a dark red breast meat and are pretty tasty….so I’ve heard;)

I'm curious about something: the still shots at the end of this video, are they taken with your video camera (your phone?) Or with the big camera you carry on your left side? Can you tell the difference? I'm just wondering if it has been worth the weight and hassle to carry your camera on this trip.
