My experience with JK Boots warranty service, including an unfortunate further issue & hopeful resolution.
They did return to me with a QA passed slip.

That’s absolutely going to return. I’ve had issues with every PNW boot regarding this after sometimes as early as one day. Sometimes a month. I could show you pictures of what those boots will look like after a year of work, it’ll blow your mind, however it doesn’t hurt the boots performance, just looks. You can easily cement them back together for $5 bucks and a toothpick (Weldwood at wall art or any hardware store).

JK has a video about liking your boots. Try not to get the oil on the stitch going through the soles and don’t oil the eyelets. Oil will seep into the threads and follow the hole all the way through and oiling the eyelets causes the leather to loosen up around the hooks and eyelets, leading to them popping out.

Sorry to hear the sole separation happened again. I guess I'll check out your channel again in a few months to see if the newly built pair works for you.

There’s no need to oil boots out of the box. The leather is already tanned with oils and most boots go out the door with a light finishing of oil or wax anyways. If you oil the boots out of the box, you might be over saturating the leather, which will cause it to lose its shape. Boots are meant to be Ready To Wear out of the box, not Ready To Oil.

JK literally recommends oiling them as part of break-in, but I tend to agree with you. I chose not to oil the replacement pair I received right away though, so hopefully that helps the glue holding the soles on to cure more fully & not separate so soon.

Too many people buying $600 boots! Who would have ever thought that would be a thing? Wait times of 3-6 months is quick. One PNW company is 18 months! A freakin' year and a half? I could be dead by then.

@@Old_Sailor85 18 months is wild. My attention span is so short I had a 9 month marriage and they want me to wait 18 months for boots.

@@WJ1333 I keep checking what they have "in stock". One of them usually has something, but I'm not in the market right now, so it just kills a few minutes. If something really nice shows up, then it's time to make a decision. I'm not waiting 18 months for anything.

Hi from Connecticut 🙏 Very nice and informative video Jon. I just got my 1st pairs of JK superduty S last week.😢 But the problem was the right shoe heel is not aligned correctly in resulting I can't even walk few steps wearing on it?? So frustrating because I've waited for 14 plus weeks.. I'm so upset with the thought of waiting even they offer replacement boots.. The inspection paper says the boots was fully inspired by inspector.. How that happened? Anyone can clearly see the right side boot ankle was not in good shape. I think JK boots has enough customers from KZbin advertisement so they don't pay any quality commitment.. 😢 they were clearly lying that the boots were inspected before shipping! And one more thing.. The free bottle of boots oil was also not there.. It's so disappointing! I think they are falling apart from their quality commitment, which is disgusting!! 🥵🥵

I'll say, I had some funkiness with the left boot on my pair of OT's, but after a couple days that cleared up. I'm almost 3 weeks in now and they have become the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had. The break in is rough, but the pay off has been worth it so far.

Hi Jon thanks for the video. Hey one question which one is more comfortable Thorogood or JK? Thanks.

Hard to say at this point. The JKs felt good when I upgraded to thicker socks & put in the thin insoles they provide to help with break in. I think I'm going to love the arch support in them. I stole the Timberland Pro insoles from my moc toe Thorogoods & put them in the new regular toe pair I bought & they're much more comfortable than they were while starting break in. The Timberland insoles also feel like they offer more arch support than the ones that come with Thorogoods. I'll have to get back to you once I get the replacement pair of JKs & get a chance to actually wear them for a full work day or a few if they don't suffer the same issue this pair did. 🤞

Will do. They're currently slated to be completed between August 6th & 20th. The first pair were done by the beginning of the date range, so 🤞

I find the leather on the 300 series is too thin. The fire sole is too harsh/hard for any concrete surface. The leather splits from the rubber all around the boot. The O.T is far better boot, but with a premium prise. I will never buy a 300 ever again.

First of all I’m not a fan of JK boots but the stitches go all the way through the outsole which means even if they seperate at the edge it wouldn’t get any further than the stitches. If you are actually working in them it would make no difference.

there are many many superior options. if they work for you, great. i tried them recently and ordered some trumans. not even close. my next pair is going to be from nick's. iron rangers are popular, i'm just not interested. sorry for the rant. i hate mass produced corporate stuff. have a great weekend.

@@fessendenful I have a couple pair of Iron Rangers and they are a great middle of the road boot but your interest in Nicks is the way to go and you won't be disappointed . All I can say after seeing this video is I'm glad I never bought JK , even the stitching is awful !!
