Subscribe via the link to be notified when the Jester Jack plush petition goes live - it only gets made if we hit the pledge goal! www.makeship.com/petitions/jester-jack-saint EDIT: Hey! The Olympics copyright claimed some of the footage in this video, so I made the executive decision to just immediately cut the stuff they wanted gone (namely the Pavlov's Dog opening and the Angela Carini segment). It's kind of disjointed but strikes like this can really kill view momentum and for obvious reasons I want to spread this as much as possible. I will look into getting a complete reupload available soon, and in the meantime encourage people to actively share the vid around to help rebuild that momentum. I mean, it wouldn't exactly be unprecedented in the history of sex. Modern gynecology was defined by J. Marion Sims, who did his research on enslaved Black women without anesthesia. But how do you apply this research to white women in a culture that considers Black people to be subhuman? Simple. While his "patients" may have been female, with the same anatomy as white women, they weren't women in the same way that white women were. Womanhood has always been denied to women from marginalized backgrounds, and using the construct of sex vs gender is one way to do it.

Someone pointed out how in the fourth book Fleur Delacour, the only woman in the Triwizard Tournament, always placed last and it really showed Rowling's perspective about women in sports. She just gave up in a diving competition where SHE NEEDS TO SAVE HER SISTER when she's 17 (older than Harry) and very fit, of course Harry had to save her because wow look at this Brave Male women are fragile and sensitive and sucks at sports!!!!!!!!
@ThyFloorestFloor
@ThyFloorestFloor 2 ай бұрын
Tbh yeah, kind of iffy if you ask me. It would have been something else if it was shown that she rushed to save her sister, and due to being reckless she ended up overexerting or failing to notice a trap or the fish people that were patrolling the waters, and it was then Harry that helped her get out of that, and then have them both together saving people. If her point with the character was to take her out of the competition, she could have done so in a way that reflects that she did have the skill and courage to have succeeded, but was dealt a bad hand. Instead it went for the women can't compete because they're not at the same level as men.

I think it's very important that people watch the match. From the pictures and narrative, we're supposed to think Carini was beaten to the point of being bruised and crying for help. In fact, they simply had a fairly regular match that ended with Carini deciding she didn't think she could win. I don't know if she was right or wrong, but she was outwardly calm, if frustrated. About a minute later, when the referee declares Khelif the winner, Carini starts crying, understandably, and THAT'S when all the pictures are lifted out of the video to exploit her tears and sadness to imply she is a weak, vulnerable, white woman under threat. The entire match looked quite civil, in fact, with quite few hits, no blood, no bruising, no severe hits to the head, no rule-breaking or unsporting behaviour. Carini was JUST sad, understandably, that she had lost her chance to win, but the racist misogynist hate mob exploited her moment of emotion, picking out frames from the video that would play into the interpretation they wanted. As much damage as they've caused to Khelif, we should point out to the world that they exploited Angela Carini in an absolutely horrible, misogynist fashion.

Men lift the biggest weights, men jump the highest, men run the fastest. And this is more entertaining, because you see the limits of human's body. not just limits of woman's body. There is a reason that at the highest level of play the first few hundred positions are held by men. @@themaniomariani think you ignore society at large when you look at it this way. you cannot just look at it from "men are typically biological stronger" when we dont live by our inherited nature. we live in a society (duh) that dictates our thoughts and behavior. and our society has a history of sexism and patriarchy. so i believe it is a lot more nuanced than the easy "first thing you thought of" answer. i would like to point out things like land inherentence, how that change shaped the roles men and women fill. how women are expected to raise kids instead of pursue careers (which would include being an athlete). Lets look at another sport. Horse racing. Equestrianism is seen as a prominently women hobby/sport, hence the title "horse girl". but the equestrian spots world is STILL dominated by men, despite a overwhelming amount of women who make up the hobby. name one stereotypical hobby that women have that ISNT mocked by society in some way? makeup, fashion, knitting, etc... all are mocked in some way by our media. masculine traits are more highly valued by society. in turn, men are taken more seriously, which applies to mens sports. plenty of sports require much more than just physical strength. society just views women differently than men, and unfortunately, your comment only proves my point. you dont view womens sports as important or engaging. you dont value their achievements like you do mens. and you never will until you change your mindset, something I can not do for you.

Fantastic video, as a Dutch person I noticed all the outrage around Imane Khelif but then on our national broadcast of the Olympics I could hear our casters talking about how Van de Velde was being treated 'unfairly' by the public, calling the people booing him 'misinformed' and 'outrageous', never mind that the reality of the situation is that this man actually raped a girl and spend time in prison for it. Our media and the Dutch Olympic Committee were more than happy to show their support for this guy. And I looked into what this man actually did, it wasn't just 'a young man's mistake', it was the most clear example of grooming you could possibly encounter. I made a post on Facebook to my friends about this situation and also pointed our the parallel that can be for the 'failure to protect women', but Imane Khelif's gender being questioned became the number one outrage in no time, rather than us having a real productive conversation about the danger of sexual mistreatment that all women face and how we should improve on our justice system most are talking about a woman being muscular instead. Never mind the irony of an actual groomer being defended and protected while people run around calling trans people groomers purely for existing. I'm glad that I'm not the only one seeing how disingenuous and misplaced this outrage is, perhaps instead of rallying for gender testing in the Olympics we better rally for the exclusion of convicted sexual offenders instead or maybe give a platform to women's safety support groups by inviting their representatives to talkshows.

People consistently underestimate women's physical strength. I'm a pudgy middle-aged woman with very little muscle definition in my arms, but I'm stronger than I look, and I frequently haul all my groceries in from my car in one trip. (I live in an apartment, so I often have to park far from my door.) I've learned to warn people before they try to pick up any bag or backpack I'm carrying around; they never expect it to be full of books because I carry that extra weight more easily than a lot of men. I always joke that what my ancestors looked for in a wife was a woman who could pick up a sheep under each arm. I'm sure that I would be accused of gender crimes if I had more defined muscles, a smaller bust, or darker skin. It's so stupid, too. Yes, when you have to make weight for a fight you have to be lean, the leaner the better (to a point) if you're a chick and you're getting lean to make fight weight you will lose a lot of the fat that is typically seen with a "feminine figure". Women also on average have higher body fat percentages. Even in the 1990s, they weren't particularly subtle about it being purely about how boxing is for boys and pretty dresses are for girls. When proven wrong, multiple times, she either goes silent or will deflect and go "well this is indicative of a bigger issue" without ever confronting the fact that she's wrong. She's too far gone at this point. Frankly anyone engaging with her is like talking to a brick wall. She is completely irredemable and she has been for years. There's no debate or empathy left, just cold, empty hate within her heart

@@peterschaeffer You have evidence from a preputable source? I literally can't find anything you have claimed, apart from the IBA, an organisation that has nothing to do with the Olympics and has been disbanded from most major boxing tournaments due to it being suspect corrupt. I haven't found anything from a french endo or CAS. Besides, XY chromosomes aren't "male" chromosomes in specific cases. People have claimed she might have "DSD" which isn't actually one thing but is "Development in Sex Disorder" so can cover a wide range, and not even necessarily intersex conditions. nothing I have found has confirmed one way or another. XY females exist. This is where the SRY gene is not present. SRY gene is the "trigger" to start male development. Without it you develop fully female physically. If she has that, then she literally cannot naturally produce testosterone. She could also have a developmental disorder that does increase testosterone but she is XX She could have literally none of those things, be XX female and just be strong and good at boxing. I literally cannot find more evidence, and it's very clear at this point she was born female, raised female, and even with an intersex condition, shouldn't be subject to the transphobic abuse she has received from Rowling and many others. Get your sources, get your research. Daily fail doesn't count, and direct from the IBA definitely doesn't count.

Hey! Thanks to people who let me know about the issue!

Instead, here's a relevant quote to the "controversy": "Those who attacked me? Of course, they were enemies of glory. But, without them, my victory would not have been so satisfying." - Imane Khelif

There's research that indicates that large groups of people aren't actually as panicky as elites and media make them out to be. During disasters, if they're adequately informed, they evacuate dangerous buildings in an orderly fashion and help people in need to leave as well. If left to their own devices, they tend to group up and organize aid and supplies.
@matthewlinus4691

@ludo_narr Self organizing large groups of people can be very smart and not panicky, but large crowds of people are also more susceptible to rhetoric than individuals alone. That's partially why the "people are dumb" opinion is so widespread, because it's not just deliberate spreading by the powerful, but also because inflammatory rhetoric is more common than natural disasters.

@ludo_narr oh certainly, on the other side though was the example I had intended to post: a lynch mob rapidly formed because a man, that was not literate in Arabic, saw a woman with Arabic printed on her dress, assumed it was quoting the Koran and accused her of blasphemy. Authorities were able to show up and intervene in time, so thankfully, she was not hurt. So more as just *one form* of group behavior we should be sensitive too

Yes, we in Ukraine, lobbied IOC for so long to ban cheaters from a certain country and they only budged in extreme cases, and this was one of them because it was so obvious: for contrast, it took TWO YEARS to disqualify girl who had positive doping test proven in 2022. TWO. YEARS. Of people not getting their medals. And rest of the team (same doctor and coach so DEFINITELY same diet and PEDs) was NOT DQ'ed and kept doped medals. So burden of proof is so huge that for IOC to actually ban someone they must be completely corrupt, and Imane defeated a boxer she was "not supposed to win against", won't be surprised if mob bets were involved.

It's really sad that both Islamophobia and transphobia have converged around Imane Khelif, since both oppressed communities have utter distrust and fear of each other. Even with an existence of trans Muslims, especially in Indonesia, neither side wishes to acknowledge their existence; Muslims sees trans Muslims as deviants, certain major trans personalities disavow them. That aside, that Rowling and her ilk have implicit Islamophobia within her transphobia, really muddles the issues that both communities have to put up with. Speaking as a Muslim myself, I do wish both Muslims and the LGBTQ put away their judgements and discuss with each other, while treating actual queer Muslims as human beings.

There's such a deep seated level of racism in all of this (as you pointed out), as a mostly Westernised audience try and enforce their own white beauty standards on this woman who dares to like... not have perfectly manicured eyebrows, and a larger nose, and some amount of darker facial hair. And I don't mean that at a dig at her appearance, I also have all of these things (and unsurprisingly was bullied at school for looking like a man). It's just this ongoing ridiculousness that TERFism always leads back to misogyny where we judge a woman by her appearance, but also severe racism that her appearance isn't following the white standards. I'm from the UK and I see the same thing consistently directed at south Asian and middle eastern women where they're ridiculed for looking too 'mannish'.

As a 6ft tall woman with big arms, who used to affectionately get called "Helga" in massage class, this whole thing has been unsurprising. I'm twice Imane Khelif's size (she could still kick my arse though haha). There have always been people - boys and girls, men and women - my whole life who have been bothered by my height, my physique. Those who feel threatened treat you as though it's your fault, as though you chose to be bigger than everyone else and enjoy freaking everyone out. I think the only reason I haven't. Even accused of being a man is that I don't go out much due to injuries. This current rhetoric is so terrifying. People like Rowling don't even realise that even they are unsafe under this kind of scrutiny. Though if she "dies by her own sword" she only has herself to blame.

The girl ended up getting severely threatened and harassed both on online and school. I find it ironic that these people who are against trans people to “protect women and children” end up hurting women a children.
