I believe much of what Bruce taught and passed down over the last 60 years by his students has been modified to a great extent by the various input from many others who have learned and taught the art in their own way. What Bruce taught in the Seattle, Oakland and San Francisco, has changed alot especailly after the exodus of original team members Jesse Glover and James Demile. Then, Dan Inosanto opted to apply his own JKD concepts around Bruce's original teachings which became popular deuing the 80's and 90's.

Bruce Lee had the right ideas incorporating other arts, especially boxing. I brought up adapting more boxing to my Wing Chun instructor and received a very negative/ close-minded response. Bruce Lee was a practical man so I understand why he left traditional Wing Chun and started JKD for himself.

@@DeeBeeScribe Agreed! A lot of folks are still very closed minded. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come, but also how many are still not there yet…

Ill probably say if people want to learn martial arts, its better to do a hybrid martial art than doing traditional martial arts as it takes many years to learn and theyre impractical. So good i made a good decision to do JKD, soon ill move to Filipino Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitssu, as these three hybrid martial arts are more practical for a street fight. Bruce Lee will always be the real deal

The back hands, side kicks along with it being a right handed southpaw and hand trapping sounds like if you could learn one grappling art that had everything it'd be jkd and for grappling it'd be bjj or cacc

@@dirtygeazer9266 Yeah, it’s an amazing martial art! The philosophy is my personal favorite aspect of it however. ☺️

Nice tips 🤟 what are your thought processes on being less bladed should the distance close into close quarters? In my own experience once in that range being more frontal and rooted helps to to dominate opponents center and work standing grappling without giving your back. Just curious on your thoughts 🙏

@@W8OTW Agreed. I tend to square up more in close, especially when clinching. Thanks for the comment and question!

I love traditional kung Fu, but I’ll be the first to note that a lot of it is not applicable to fighting or self defense. I would like to dabble in JKD to fill in some of my gaps.
@jkdprocessАй бұрын
@@ProductionsFromBeyon Awesome! You should definitely try JKD and see what you think. It’s an individual journey, so each person can get what they need from it.
