I put a Dynatrac 44 up front, and topped it off with a Lokar floor shifter, and a full Corsa SS exhaust. New advanced frameworks box frame, all new body kit, 4" lift, lots of chrome, all new corvette red paint, hardwood rear floor. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that most of the time. You never get the money back that you put into your project. Only worth doing it for the experience building it and the fun of driving it.

HP Tuners is a good option to modify your tune. You can log your existing tune and modify it yourself, or email it to a professional for a custom tune. It also lets you change the easy stuff like tire size and gear ratio. The upside is you can also use it on multiple vehicles, multiple manufacturers, etc. The downside is it’s a little pricey. But with a stock tune you’re leaving a lot of hp and torque on the table, and it sounds like you need some tweaks to your existing tune anyway.

An older 5.7 block with whatever internals desired, eagle heads and a truck intake would be wicked too. Could also stay manual with some of the adapters out there, with an SRT/6speed bellhousing- or whatever really- there's actually some good options for the Hemi. Given the cost of a 392 factory jeep (which has a lot of extra cool stuff for sure) I am always surprised this swap isn't more common. Given the cost of the swap electronics- why not go full standalone? I assume the transmission- but there are solutions for that as well that are also tunable. BMW guys are running them in some cool swaps. Also amazed how many people will start a swap but aren't willing to make their own/repurpose junkyard stuff to keep costs reasonable. The Miata community is a perfect example. It's easy to spend $30k on a swap, but plenty of folks have done them DIY for 2-3k as a starting point. If you don't exceed 250-300hp (which is plenty) then the rest of the factory stuff can be replaced slowly as you go. Makes modern 4 cylinders (Toyota 2AR is my plan I think- should bolt to some cheap, smaller 4cyl Tacoma 5 speeds, requiring only a custom D/S, reuse the rear end, where a lot of cost can come from. Would prefer ITB 1UZ, but alas they are not as cheap and plentiful as they used to be- and the 2AR will nearly compete for power with much less complexity.) and stuff like the 1UZ just perfect for it. But LSX and all the sudden you built a half ass Cobra that... could have just been a FF 65 coupe or Roadster and end up in a similar spot, without throwing half a car away.

Ive had 3 wranglers a 3.5l HO and 2 3.8ls. The biggest problem with these are the underpowered engines. This was a missed opportunity by stellantis. 5.7l would have been the perfect powertrain. After bumpers, tires and other mods these things are dogs. The 3.8L even gets worse gas mileage than a hemi 5.7l hemi engine. I just dont understand why mopar chose the minivan engine for these. From a cost/inventory standpoint i get it. I promise if 5.7l jeeps were an option sales would have been off the charts.

That was an amazing video, I have a question though, any 4x4 8HP70 would fit and operate for the project such as (durango's rt transmission)? Or does it have to be from a Ram?

I spent a year trying to find anyone that was smart enough to wire my swap. Nobody can do it they say. I was going to swap into my jeep TJ my 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 512 hp aluminum twin turbo V8 with the 6spd auto and transfer case, yup the Cayenne has low range. But why put it in if nobody can make it run, right?

Ben I have the same 2010 set up you do and have invested in the JSS kit. I am shopping for my 8hp70 and am seeing different gear ratios. I will still use my Rubicon transfercase so what ration should I be looking for?

Enjoyed this video series. Question: What did you do with your 3.8? I only have 65k miles on mine. Is it worth anything? Going to do the 5.7 swap this summer.
