My Cherie Amour was originally written about Wonder's girlfriend while he was at the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing, Michigan, and had the title "Oh My Marsha". After they broke up, the lyrics and title were altered to the more general "My Cherie Amour", which was released on January 28,1969.The song became a #4 hit on both the Billboard pop and R&B singles charts in July of 1969.

no offence sir but saying in 2021 that Stevie Wonder is a genius , great composer , singer and musician it is a kind of obvious statement since that was a fact in the earliest 70s when he was the first musician to record a vinyl disc where he performs nearly all the instruments , arrange , produce and compose the whole damn thing , on top he smash a hit like superstition in a project aside i was a mere child and of course too young to live these years, but since 1976 Stevie was part always of my life's playlist , just like millions out there i love that new generations appreciate the good music , and come on board cause one day not only he will not be here , if not the older followers too , and it will be your task dont let the good music die in oblivion, so welcome , sir

I had just bought his latest album, I had his others...Songs in the Key of Life and fell in love with it in Phoenix, Az. in 1977. I had been out there on a company trip for several weeks. I chose to drive home to Kentucky instead of fly...I loved driving thru our US. One night I stopped in NOLA. I had rented a room in the hotel across from the Super dome. I parked, got out of my car...and walked toward the lobby. I saw a limo with a black man getting out led by his arm with a beautiful black woman. I stopped and looked: it was him. It was Stevie. I couldn't believe it. It was just them and me. I walked up to them, she smiled at me and I reached out and shook his hand and told him that I loved him. They both smiled.

I remember My Cheiro Amour being the second side of a 45..but I can't remember what on the first side. That was 1969 I think?
@tribeofjuda3 жыл бұрын
@@sano1062 Very good memory. My Cherie Amour (written by Stevie in 1966 about a girlfriend from the Michigan School of the Blind in Lansing, MI; originally entitled "Oh, My Marsha") was first released as the B-side of another very nice song by Wonder which Motown was promoting at the time entitled "I Don't Know Why", released January 28, 1969. Funny thing about it was that the A-side recording on this 45 which was being promoted by Motown on local radio stations only managed to peak at #39 on the charts as most of the local radio DJ's were checking out the unheralded B-side song of the 45 called "My Cherie Amour". Realizing its popularity from fan's response of this B-side song from local DJ's, Motown very wisely re-released "My Cherie Amour" at the end of May in 1969, only this time as the A-side in reverse order....and (as they say) the rest is history, It climbed all the way up to #4 in both the US and also in the UK. The song later went on to become one of Wonder's most recognized signature songs until this very day.

I love how he gets the audience by surprise in what song he wants them to sing to him. Stevie is so cute when he does this. It shows his love for his fans. HE is so passionate at the work he does to entertain people. This is such a powerful song. There's not a bad bone in this man's body what so ever. If only God would grant him sight so he can see what he's created and the many people he's impacted. But I'm sure he takes every soul home with him. He's just a beautiful person.

Incredible that a theme of this CALIBER can be made .. !! I have followed Stevie my whole life, along with The Beatles, and the things that Wonder makes up are of tremendous imagination and beauty .. !! And the people who accompany him are of very good quality .. !!
