Jeff, this is the best interview you have conducted the whole year, Kudo's. What an eloquent gentleman. He knows the issues and answers them very candidly. Today, climate change is a threat to our country. Therefore, KDF MUST be given a bigger mandate and more resources to combat this threat. One area that is a clear and present danger is water scarcity. KDF should be involved in building dams and water catchments areas ASAP. I hope the president can divert unused funds and allocate in this area.

Army corp of engineers is a an American organization under the military with its co functions: Deliver vital engineering solutions, in collaboration with partners, to secure the Nation, energize the economy, and reduce disaster risk Its time Kenya military started a branch like the army corp of engineers and call it "KDF Corp of Engineers" Basically they are already doing it. They are reviving rails, ports, ships , factories and civil works. The national youth service should be under or be a branch of KDFCE (KDF Corp of Engineers). Once the NYS students go through the program, KDFCE can then recruit NYS students into the KDFCE to be trained in all aspects of engineering and providing manpower to the co functions of KDFCE. NYC students will specialize in one form of engineering be it road construction, civil works, dam construction, reforestation programs, rail, bridges, ship building etc. Not only just engineering but also managnment. KDF should set up its own university whereby NYS recruits can be admitted to various programs.

KDF Revived KMC in 6months that civilians could not do with even double the money KDF had. revived Uhuru ship within six months that was out of commssion for 20yrs and is now transporting oil to uganda making millions. NMS has done a remarkable job in nairobi and returning it to its rightful status. What does this tell us kenyans. Its not that we do not have the competence but luck of visionary and patriotic leaders. corruption, luck of leadership are the biggest impedements facing Kenya. Luck of discipline, patriotism, professionalism ailes almost every govt institution in Kenya. The sad thing is that we have been made to believe that only muzungus and chinese can do these things. The problem in Kenya is we have the wrong people leading many govt institutions. Notice Kibochi said that there are many competent people who work in these institutions but the wrong leadership leading them who do not create the right environment for things to get done. Normally these leaders are appointed because they know the president or political or tribal affiliation is their only qualification. And now we are heading for a presidential election and guess whom may become president. God help Kenya
