Those are beautiful blackhead clown combos. My guess on the two you are questioning is with the first one you showed I believe you’re right it’s an Enchi Leopard Blackhead Clown, and the second one is a Enchi Leopard YB Blackhead Clown and the only difference is the headstamp is darker on the one you aren’t sure is blackhead and I think that could just be cause Enchi headstamps can vary some are more prominent than others and thats what you got there I believe. The second Enchi Leopard YB Blackhead Clown headstamp is just darker and more pronounced than the first one you showed. Also the first one you showed has a more reddish dorsal stripe so maybe that one has red gene in it too which is causing the headstamp to look different.

Love the blackhead pieds -- they seem to add pattern to the pied, and a dorsal to ventral gradient which is similar to enchi but darker and less aberrant pattern. Would be great to see an adult single gene blackhead pied. I am interested in breeding a blackhead het pied to my firefly pied to see if fire blackhead pied has more pattern; if anyone has this combo would love to see it.

Did the blackhead dad have red/ringer genes in him? Red gene in could explain the difference between the one you are confident has everything (with the extra dorsal blushing) and the other two.

They’re so awesome! I’m guessing blackhead variants! Congrats!! Super cool! I have a question for you Justin, do you think that we can unlock previously unknown genes by making certain parings that haven’t been done yet? Wether they be recessive, dominant or incomplete dominant. I’d really like to know your thoughts on that theory. Thanks for doing what you do!!🐍❤️

I have literally no clue what I’m talking about but is there a chance there’s redstripe hidden in the pairing?

Of the Black Head babies that you're unsure about , at least 1 or maybe 2 have what looks like "silver eyes" trick of light from camera , shedding or actual colour of eyes?
@jonflannery89843 жыл бұрын
Wish I could contribute anything meaningful to the discussion other than to say those snakes are awesome and beautiful. Also between these and the Lav/dark gene combos in your content history it really has me considering taking at least a portion of my collection to the dark side. Opens my mind to dark genes and an open mind is never a bad thing IMO. Kinda shameful to admit I’ve not considered the dark side more before. Awesome content as always and thanks for sharing with the world. 🔥🌎👀
@jonflannery89843 жыл бұрын
To add something more: the Mohawks, little mustaches, and incredible medallions are all interesting and amazing patterns. Know I can if nothing else depend on your content as visual examples to show the life and business partner some of the elements I’d like to see worked into our collection at some point in the future.
@jonflannery89843 жыл бұрын
I figure from the general theme of your content you mainly use KZbin and other social platforms as a “hey look what I’ve made” use case. And that’s not at all a bad thing. I’d be interested in seeing your take on the variability in genes and I know myself(& just assume it would translate somewhat to other viewers as well) are looking to video content for education on IDing their own clutches or a knowledge base to know what gene(s) to buy into next. IMO it is always beneficial to be able to say one gene does “this” or it does “that” with some degree of reliability. Case in point: I’d think I could safely say, without having a single animal in my personal collection that if I were to have a particular combination I wanted to “clean up or brighten” that I could work DG into almost any combination to accomplish that goal. Anything you or other influencers would have to offer to that end would definitely have me “glue-tuned” to that particular video.

I would say just variations of one of the genes. All to often we want to get stuck on the fact that 'each snake of a morph or gene should look near identical ' but we all know there's HUGE variations on genes, from normals, pastel especially ive seen dark brown pastels and theb ive seen vibrant yellow pastels. Doubt there's any hidden genes especially in yoir collection Justin, you would have found it already lol

I'd be looking at either the mom or dad having an extra gene you aren't accounting for, look back on your breeding records and you should find the answer, look at the black surround the eyes on two of them vs the others. Its not just a difference of expression so much as a gene accounting for it, there is a uniform effect being expressed on the phenotype.

Those mojave pieds are amazing, and I'm not one to usually get excited over pieds.
