Your comment on the power output of the JL is wrong. 100 watts x 4 at 4 ohms or 75 watts x 4 at 1.5 - 3 ohms are the correct specs.

I see you showed the dyno on what the Rockford can actually put out but not the JL. That exact JL puts out about 113 watts per 4 channels, and the sub channel can go up to just over 800RMS. So in total, the JL wins.

@damon323 5th gen 4runner (2022) Stealthbox w/ 10TW3 RD900/5 C2 6.5" Component front door/dashboard C2 6.5" Coaxial rear doors C2 6.5" coaxial hatch door Still using the oem head unit with LoC Sounds pretty darn good but I feel like I'm leaving somthing on the table by not going with the HD900/5 I wish I had got it at first but it would of added 1000 bucks to my build lol Also thinking I should switch out the radio to the horizon10 or g13 dasaita Or K KENWOOD eXcelon Reference for better control over the speakers and amp with more purposeful DSP

@@frostbite303 Ah, that was you on Reddit! I replied to you on there. I had the RD900/5, and it was nice. But just wasn’t quite what I wanted power wise. Then went to the XDM1000/5, and that was a big improvement. I still think this is the best choice if the HD is money you don’t want to spend. Just installed the MHD900/5 last weekend. I got the marine version because it was $953 new and from an authorized dealer. I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a whole other level. The power and consistency is just incredible with the regulated power supply(RIPS). With our 4Runners, the alternator fluctuates between 13.2 and 13.8 volts. So with anything other than these HD amps, we never get rated power right off the bat. All other amps give out their rated specs at 14.4v. That one volt difference doesn’t seem like much but it actually is. The HD takes care of that. It’ll put out rated power down to 11 volts which is crazy. I like your C2 setup. But it’s too bad you had to do 6.5 inch for your front stage. You lose some mid bass output compared to 6x9

@damon323 Yeah I commented on reddit on your post about the MHD900/5 which is essentially what I want ... with aprox 200 dollars of waterproofing from what I can tell from the website lol. But everytime I went back to the post it said it was deleted. My first time posting on reddit this week lol long time reader tho lol Anyway for the price you paid I would of got the marine one too. I was looking at the C1 6x9 Component. But wanted c2 all around and they don't have a 6x9 in the c2 proly should of gone with the 6x8 c2 component, the 6.5's Sound really good tho I was looking at the XDM1000/5 but convinced myself that the extra money it cost was mainly for the waterproofing and marine aspect of it. Not to mention the remote is almost twice the price too lol. However I do like the option toggle switch the XDM amps have for the remote knob to attenuate the whole amp or just the sub channel On that note the XDM1000/5 would be sending my TW3 600 watts which i felt would of been too much for her. But now hearing the TW3 getting 350-500 watts from my RD900.5 (so proly 425ish @13.5v) the TW3 as im sure you know calls for 400 so was trying to line all the numbers up before buying/ install ... I knew/know nothing about car audio until I started researching about a month or so ago so trying to learn and not go bankrupt lol But after hearing the TW3 on the RD900 I'm sure it could of handled the 600 from the XDM1000 and I really like that function on the amp for the knob But I don't want to have to buy a 3rd amp if i don't like the XDM or I'm sure I'll like it, but if I feel it's not the fullest I can get out of my build lol ... and then end up buying the HD after that anyway lol So that's why I'm thinking I should go straight to the top of the line with all of the special technologies and R&D that went into the HD amp(rips etc) ... the XDM is $1000 and the HD is $1500 so yeah already bummed I went with the cheaper RD amp(if you consider $660 cheap lol) Torn between the XDM1000.5 and the HD900.5 600x1 and 60x4 (XDM) @12.5v Or 500x1 and 100x4 (HD) @12.5v Leaning towards the HD

d4s amps are rebranded chinese trash. Just because Williston Labs dyno video sings their praises doesn't mean theyre good amps. Their signal to noise ratio and channel crosstalk characteristics are hot garbage. The 12db slope on their sub channels are also hot garbage as well. If all you care about is getting as loud as possible for as cheap as possible, it'll do that. Thats all it will do. The bass at volume sounds muddy and bloated. They overheat ridiculously quick. They use lexan as a bottom plate which, from a heat transfer standpoint is dumb AF. I will never run another D4s amp. D4S amps are good for 1 thing, though. If you DONT understand amplification characteristics, after owning a D4S amp and wondering why the tweeters hiss or why it sounds like you have voices coming out of your subwoofers, you'll learn why.

It feels extremely premium in the hand. It's very heavy for its size. In terms of sound quality it's decent. You can get same sound quality for a lot less. It seems the JL prices just keep going up and up.
