In the Ablogtowatch review he points out that you set the alarm time with the top crown but if you turn it the wrong way, you'll change the date- HUGE design fail. There were better alarm movements even back in the day. For $11k, at least give me something that isn't a pain to use, at least use a GOOD alarm watch movement.

It is interesting your episode is on JLC today because I have been doing a bit of research into one of their particular watches since 2 days ago. The JLC Dr Strange watch, Q130842J, perpetual calendar. Since seeing it so heavy in the movie, I really fell in love with the watch. But I knew nothing about the company and how they rank, now I would like to know where they fall and are they worth their prices? How does it compare to Rolex (the standard for which most luxury brands are measured)? Maybe you could discuss this sometime.

JLC are considered one of the best makers of watches on the planet. They have been continuously involved in horology for more than 150 years. They make their own movements and are one of the few watch brands out there that does this. They have made movements for Patek, Vacheron and other brands in the past. They also produce amazing value watches. A $5000 JLC is unrivalled in the marketplace and could easily be compared with other $20,000 high end watches. I would consider them higher end than Rolex.

Funny because officially here in Europe the cheapest watch is the sector dial which is 7 k euro .... like can u compare this with Patek Calatrava ? Or the a Lange ? I guess u could compare it with hublot or something but I am not sure u should ... just explain what is the best value of jlc ? The crono ? Or perpetual ? I mean the perpetual is the def the best on the market .. costs 19 k euro ... u can get it cheaper new ... ultra thin and has everything which includes quality history prestige etc

The Marquis About 8-9 thousand worth of better tech? Realistically, alarm watches are a pretty unusual and borderline useless complication considering we all carry smartphones. This watch doesn't speak to me ... Reverso does though. I really like them.

I think your reading this the wrong way the watch is celebrating 60 years since the first memovox it's not a tribute to their first memovox model. hence why they've used a snow drop model to base it on.

I agree with that to a large extent! But doesnt that seem a little confused? I dont know. Maybe I'm wrong. It almost seems like a "best of" album which, although cool, doesnt fit the bill for an anniversary celebration

Good points indeed. At least Longines are hewing close to their originals with their Heritage range, and at a a third or less price wise. No way I'd buy this JLC. Too dear. Not on story as you're pointed out. Yes, it looks great, but comes with a mixed story/narrative, a fairly useless complication these days and a shockingly high price.
