Darkness is such a funny spell. It's honestly good, but more than half the time it ends in the party staring in disappointment at a glob of black that is a boss before glaring over at the Warlock.
@JaxonBurn8 ай бұрын
A lot of people, even experienced DMs like Mark, often forget that, because the blindness effect works both ways, attack rolls aren't actually made at disadvantage. You can't see whatever is in the darkness, so you have disadvantage on attack rolls to hit it, but it also can't see you, which would give advantage on attack rolls against it, so it's just a straight roll. I think the fact that people often forget that part is what makes it feel like such an awkward spell to use. (Maybe the enemy in the clip has blindsight or something-- I'm not sure)
@fuchsmithut41088 ай бұрын
@@JaxonBurn fair enough but I think he kinda hinted that the thing can see through magical darkness somewhere in the beginning after Wyll cast the spell
@jamescourtney5147 ай бұрын
@@JaxonBurn TBF the rules are very counter intuitive a lot of the time. For example, two blind archers would shoot at each other normally according to the rules. Blinded gives you disadvantage on attack rolls and enemies gain advantage on attack rolls against you, so when the aforementioned blind archers shoot at each other, the advantage gained from the enemy being blind is cancelled out by the archers' own blindness. The idea of disadvantage and advantage cancelling each other works when you have situations where they come from different sources; i.e, if you're blind and melee attack a prone enemy, it makes sense that you'd have a greater chance of hitting than if that enemy was standing. I understand why WOTC simplified the whole advantage/disadvantage thing to cancel each other out but it results in a lot of stupid RAW interpretations.

There's nothing officially canon about this. I think they might have even changed Astarion's background to criminal even though he's a charlatan in the game. Also, in my head canon, she's a psionic warrior. That's not in the game yet and I forget if her intelligence score even supports it, but I'm waiting for Larian to release the subclass as DLC before I make an Origin playthrough as Lae'zel.

A lot of time, games and animated films will model characters based off of their voice actors. It makes animation easier when the person speaking the lines has the same facial structure as the chararcter.

They probably had concept art in the works prior to casting, but I imagine that it must help the animators if the in-game models and the actors have a similar facial structure.

Not per 5e rules. The same way "talking don't take turns", basically doing anything doesn't really take a turn. It's just made-up rules to emulate a strategic, turn-by-turn fight.
