First of all Judge and everyone in the team respectfully gave him space throuhgout the process because they know how it is. In fact he had a post that during the season is where they tried convincing him to stay. Nothing wrong with that.
@kevinhu76843 сағат бұрын
Yeah, the comment Juan made seemed pretty consistent with his approach. When Judge was questioned about reaching out during the contract negotiation phase, Judge was pretty clear that he knew Juan would want his space. I think people were respecting what Soto wanted the whole time.

I’m with Trevor, this is not a deal at all. Soto has been what he’s always been. He’s a Mercenary and that’s perfectly fine. Soto is not be the vocal guy or emotional leader, but It doesn’t mean there was any animosity between Soto and teammates. He’s a loner guy and there are plenty of athletes that are and have been like that throughout sports history.

people who have never seen that kind of money can't imagine that an athlete makes these decisions on anything besides the money. yeah, I think the ability to earn up to 805 mil in one fewer year was appealing to Soto, of course. I think what Trev said is right. Soto can be more himself and have a chance to go down as the Mets all time greatest player, instead of being second to Judge for another 7 years and then behind dozens of other yankee legends in history
@createdrostersСағат бұрын
Soto even said (paraphrasing) other than the money (so it was about money too) he thinks this is the best place for his family and he likes the vision of the future. I don’t think he needs to say more than that and that feels like the truth. Idk why this is such a thing

Why isn' t a thought provided to the fact that Soto may have paused before answering because English isn't his first language? Just stop Chris. The difference between 700 m & 800 m doesn’t matter at that point. Like Trev said Soto didn’t want to be a yankee because they’re a lame old school organization that is out of touch and is stuck up thinking they’re better than everyone. Soto would have lost a ton of fans if he was a yankee for the rest of his career because most people hate yankee players because they think they’re the best and think they’re special. They’re not they’re lame and make the players shave and no names on jersey etc. Yankees are OLD man get it through your head the difference of 50 million doesn’t matter at those numbers and Trevor is saying it in a nice way but ask Trev he knows bellinger wouldn’t want to be a Yankee either because they’re stuck in the past
@christopherclayton73452 сағат бұрын
100%, the yankees' offer relied on their history but Steve Cohen only talked about the future with soto in it. Tbh, I could've convinced Soto to go to the Mets, it's not difficult to see how Cohen could build such a compelling narrative about why Soto should be a met

These young great players don't want to be told how to have their hair, or beards. Let them grow it out and get with the times. The Yankee organization acts like it's the 1950's with their stupid rules for the players and such. Only players they get are through trade, players who grew up a fan, or they don't care about cutting hair/beard. Too Old School!
