Though in reality if a being such as Grim aka Angel of Death were ever faced with such a situation his mere presence would be enough to make everyone stop shooting and collapse. Unless he himself commands them not to collapse at least that's how generally speaking Angels tend to work hence the "be not afraid" is more of a direct order to save your life then a suggestion. Since in most cases merely being in their presence for too long will also kill you, same of course for demons and satan but they have less authority and depend on the willingness of the person which is why demons always try to make deals and get you to sell your soul etc. Whereas the angel of death technically wouldn't have that problem because your soul already belongs to his boss. Of course he could also just make the guns malfunction, break or dissappear.
