Ministerial cars and drivers can be used for private purposes under the rules in NSW. It would be interesting to see a similar investigation into other politicians of all parties, and why only she was targetted in this - perhaps because she had been so high profile with the Metro, or to undermine her negotiations with the rail union?

@Bellas1717

@ As she said, the negative press was causing a problem for the government because probably 99% of people don’t know it’s allowed and widespread across all parties. It shouldn’t be, but it is. Hers was an extreme case, because even though it was a work lunch, it was very much diluted by the private with the inclusion of partners. If you’ve followed politics long enough you know that this is a common Murdoch ploy of distraction and attempted destabilisation against Labor when his investments in coal and mining are under threat, as they are with the release of the (secretly recorded) elitist and Musk-like speech from Gina Reinhardt at the mining dinner, followed by exposure of her ad in the NY Times, and the absurd nuclear policy from Dutton. This is exactly what Murdoch did with the release of remarks by the Speaker of the House when the carbon tax was being introduced. The carbon tax would have been a great benefit to everyday Aussies by taxing the very top tier I.e. Reinhardt and Murdoch, who avoid paying income tax through clever tax avoidance schemes, but wouldn’t have been able to avoid this. So the rich got richer and the workers didn’t get wage rises in keeping with inflation, and the divide got bigger, and we reach where we are today because of that and the impact of recent global inflation (although our inflation has been greatly reduce through Labor economic management, but at a cost to the working and middle classes.) Hayley was particularly vulnerable because she had a) big success with the Metro extension, and so was high profile, and b) was in negotiation with the transport unions, and Murdoch doesn’t want money wasted on what he has called the "little people of Australia", as in the working and middle classes.

@ Sad for you. I know many honourable politicians, people of integrity with the good of the people at heart. Most of those have given up far more lucrative careers because they see a need that they believe they can fill. This minister made a great error of judgement. But since what she did is well within the rules, do you really think she is the only one that has done this? I’d be asking why she was targeted, and why at this time?
@Bellas1717
@Bellas1717 2 күн бұрын
