I bought this album when I was 17 yrs old, ordered it from England, which was a big deal back then. I am now 62, this songs stills lifts my heart and brings me to tears every time I hear it. Joan blessed my life, and continues to do so.

I think she was on Saturday Night Live - season 2. I posted this song on FB (or another of her songs - doesn;t really matter) I was pointing out - live recording, real talent, and in a denim shirt (after another grammys fiasco). She was a special talent. Good for you getting the album. I used to play her back in the day (frat boy 1980's parties). (Full on 1979.)

@@neildonovan6823 thank you for the comment, as it moved me to watch this video a few times this morning, which is a beautiful way to start the day. Perhaps her denim shirt is one of the reasons I have a few of them! Take care.

Been listening to this musical goddess since the 1970s. Seen her in concert 5 times. Life changing. Sooomuch soul it just oozes out and into mine. Making me a much better more compassionate man. Thanks joan. Feel sorry for the poor souls stuck with Taylor swift

In 1979 I was a white boy living in maine working at kmart and a “hippie” co-worker introduced me to Joan and I was blown away. She is the definition of “soul” because her music comes from her soul and touchéd mine. Great memories, thanks, Joan

My enduring memory of my mother, who died of a heart attack at 60 in 2001, is of her singing this as she pottered about in the kitchen when I was a child some time in the (probably) early 80s. I will always remain indebted Ms Armatrading for that.

There aren't too many songs that I recall hearing for the very first time but this is one of them. It was a Saturday and I was on a bus on the way home from shopping in the city centre. Tired with sore feet, this came on the radio and I was in another world, it was unlike anything I'd heard before. The moment I got home I told my roommate, "I've just heard this amazing song" before I could say anymore he told me, "It's Joan Armatrading's new one".

I first heard this song live at Coventry Theatre (UK) just before she released it as a single. She was supporting Supertramp. It was the most amazing evening. As soon as we heard this song, we knew she was something special. I immediately bought her album, the first of many! A true talent - and I can tell you, there is an awful lot of love and affection for J.A. ever since from her many fans.❤

Saw her live in Dundee in 1977 when she played support for Supertramp, it's still is one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Joan's performance absolutely blew me away and I've been a fan ever since. This track still gets me after all these years!

There are only two separate concerts I missed my ride home from: Supertramp, and Joan Armatrading, both from Montreal to home 60 miles away. I stayed for Joan's THIRD encore because the midnight bus NEVER left on time (until that night, LOL!). I walked & ran 14 miles solo, then hitched a ride the rest of the way home, getting home just as the sun was coming up. Unforgettable performance and adventure! With Supertramp, we tried to take a case of beer into the stadium, couldn't, got separated from our ride & never saw them again. Pre-cell phone era. Supertramp was fun! The 3 of us hitched a ride south, then called a taxi to take us back north to Montreal several hours later when we were not getting any rides, then took the bus back home.

I’m watching a series on Netflix called Eric. Suddenly, this song came on. It blew me away!!! It brought back so many memories. I hadn’t heard this song for years! My friend Sharon (RIP) introduced me to Joan Armitrading’s music in the 1980s. She played her album over and and over again. I instantly fell in love with her music and I started playing her albums endlessly. My favourite Armitrading song is “Mix Some Water with the Wine, but I love all of her music. I will be listening to Joan Armitrading’s music non stop! Once you hear her beautiful, unique, spiritual voice and style you’re hooked! You want to hear it again and again.

I was just thinking that there are so many kinds of artists who have had great succes. Those who are always in the news, who create lots of "buzz" and hype, and then there are those artists who write brilliant songs, go out on tour and give all they've got, yet are never in the news for some kind of personal drama. Joan is that kind of artist. It is so refreshing to listen to her music, quietly appreciating her artistry, yet she is so down to earth. :)
