In this I Love Rock 'N Roll guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this monster hit by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
For most of the song, there will be two guitar parts to learn. One guitar part played by Joan Jett and the other played by Ricky Bird (including his guitar solo).
I will take you through each section of the song and explain who is playing what along the way.
This one is pretty simple to play bit still guaranteed till absolutely kill at a party!

I find it a bit easier to play the little fill lick @5:57, on the E and B string (instead of B and G). It means my fingers travel down the neck less, between the riff and fill.

That's a classic one. I first heard it on Guitar Hero I, which is the game franchise that got me into metal. Carl, if you ever run out of song ideas, consider making lessons of songs present in the first three Guitar Hero games setlist. You might attract some kiddos like me to the channel. 😅

great stuff carl, ive been playing for 30 years almost every day, and found a bit of dead end at learning new stuff, then I discovered your website. beat it solo checked off, thank you. things all seem so easy when you have learned it, I struggle to copy musicians as I cant seem to observe one's right to my left if its something really bothering me I put the computer next a mirror and hey presto it reads the right sense ! someone needs to make an app for that! :) like a screen flipper - kinda like guitar dyslexia i know im nuts , I wonder if you could consider a burt bacharach tune ''the guy is in love with you.'' not the straight chord variant but the one the more tricky variant on an acoustic/nylon the odd one or two have done it but they dont show it very well. whatever , I digged the ABBA tune you did a bit back (WTIA) a real random hit for my skill.set .many thanks , god knows how you can remember these tunes..cheers DD and keep the it going, we may not comment like me I rarley I ever do but there's 1000's of us silent types out there watching what you do..

Have you ever considered covering something from Jen Turner, the guitarist on Natalie Merchant’s Tiger Lilly album? On “Wonder” especially the guitar is brilliant.
