I SOO respect all your research. I would’ve NEVER guessed.

I just can't imagine her being overweight! She is sorely missed! Thanks, Brad!

I agree. I was unable to find any pictures of her overweight. I'm wondering if her idea of overweight was different that what we think is overweight. :)

You and Junior did it AGAIN!! I was slapping the desktop and yelling (I can do that) "I know this one! I know it!". I was trying to remember the name of Agatha Christy. Well color me red. The only name I could pull up was Angie Dickison (sp?). Maybe she portrayed Agatha? When Mr. Harvey named Joan Rivers I deflated so fast! In looking at the photos that you presented to us, I found most of them portraying her as a very attractive lady, and I choose to ignore her choice of how she presented herself to us. Thanks, Brad!

That was a good guess. I love Agatha Christie. I agree. I’m not a fan of plastic surgery. :)

Awesome video. I never knew anything about Joan. Personally I never care for her kind of comedy. But she didn't need my approval she had tons of fans. wonderful research. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I knew very little about her before I began researching this episode. Hers was not my kind of humor either. I can certainly appreciate her talent though. :)

Yes, I do think! Joan Rivers was just one of many famous people who lived their lives in seeming desperation of acceptance. I think it might have been her mother's obsession with status that inflicted the most pain, not the young blind date, although that memory clearly stayed with her. So sad, hard to imagine what a little kindness might have done to bring her happiness.
@BradDisonАй бұрын
I agree with you. Kindness is the key. :)

Wow, I'd never heard that part of her story - poor thing. She never forgot his words and he never remembered her. 😕

Notice the rotary phone in the lower right hand corner of the picture. I have used one of these phones where we got only 1 to 3 calls a day, And you usually knew who was on the other end of the line.Except for local calls, every call cost money.

That woman put many a smile upon my face through her career. I am saddened when people like her and Michael Jackson get addicted to plastic surgery, they never seem to achieve any satisfaction with the way they look. If only people could realize it's not about the outer shell, it's what you possess inside. We would have loved you any way you came. Seeking approval from shallow minded people is such a waste of time, but I understand the compulsion. I hope she rests in peace.

I agree completely. I plan to grow old(er) naturally. Even if I could afford it. :)

@BradDison Paul Harvey was the greatest radio presence in the history of that medium. In the late 1960s I was attending Bowling Green State University and most everyday at noon I tuned in my radio to hear his signature "Stand by for news" intro. That short newscast was the most comforting, informative part of my days at school. I'll always be grateful to Paul Harvey.
