Like most companies, they kept raising prices claiming it was due to inflation or shortages when in reality it was about maximizing profits. Now that people are sick of it and/or can't afford it, they're backtracking and trying to lure in consumers who have cut back on spending.

The Joann website and app are absolute trash. None of the coupons online are worth anything because the checkout process always freezes or for whatever reason you really can't finish the process. I even called in my online order once and they only sent one of four items. I didn't even get an email. It's all very sketchy. The only coupons worth anything are in store. Everything is always on sale so coupons almost never work

Went to Joann yesterday. Vogue patterns on sale used to be $5.99 now $6.99. Butterick was $1.99 now $3.99 on sale. The fabrics on clearance were the more expensive fabrics so 70% off wasn’t enough to make the price reasonable. The clearance section was sparse. And in other departments overall I’m not seeing lower prices. Also, I didn’t get coupons on my receipt like they used to.

The more irritating part of this "sale" is that they put all the Liberty of London fabrics on clearance when none of them are actually in stock or available for shipment. It's like they want to insult our intelligence.

I hope this means they’ll cut out the ridiculous sale/coupon culture they have. I’d buy more craft items from them if the regular prices were competitive with Amazon. The problem with Amazon is that a lot of items are bulk purchases and of course I have to wait for shipping. I just never know how much something actually costs at Joann because the regular price is so jacked up.

Michaels is now carrying fabric. Their price is 5.99 a yard for cotton and have great fabrics. So Joanns needs to lower their fabric cost. Their vinyl is ridiculous expensive.

I mail ordered a bunch of beads last night from them --really great prices especially with the free shipping. Seemed abnormally legit. I usually order a big bolt of quilt batting every year but don't shop there on any kind of regular basis. The bead sale was pretty impressive though.

Most influencer contracts require a non-disparagement clause, meaning you can't say anything negative or even remotely critical about the brand. This is a large reason why you don't see a lot of reporting on the sewing + crafts industry. Remaining as independent as possible allows me to maintain editorial + creative freedom.

I worked in retail for 10 years. Inflating the price to give customers "coupons or sale prices" is a common practice. JCPenny tried this tactic that Joan is trying before. They permanently lowered the price but they stopped allowing customers to use coupons on most of their items and they stopped having "sales." It didn't work out for them. The reality is that people liked the feeling of buying items at a "discounted" price even though it's not actually discount because prices are inflated to double the price.

Not sure why it’s a problem. I just bought a bunch of beads at $2.49 each. Yes, I usually avoid buying beads from Joann because the strands can be $7 and over. At $2.49 each, yes please. I don’t sew so I don’t know about the fabric situation, but I appreciate the beads discount. They also have a code for $1.99 shipping if you don’t hit the $75 mark. Can’t say you see that very often.

I liked the purple swirl fabric :( I live in Canada and was so excited when I was finally able to purchase fabric from them. I had been looking for fabric with bugs on it for a project I wanted to do and Joann's actually had the fabric in larger than a fat quarter, which seems to be all you can get online in Canada now. Was disappointed when I saw they are no longer shipping to Canada. It is too much hassle for me to try and get to a fabric store since the one closest to me closed years ago and it is too much to try and get to another one, not that they have what I am looking for anyway since I love weird, quirkly fabrics lol.

My daughter and I shop their remnant bin on the weekends for fabrics I could make her clothes out of ... (My daughter is 2 so doesn't require a lot of fabric). I don't think I ever paid full price for an item at JoAnn's ...I started seeing in 2020 during the pandemic and that's where I did most of my shopping, but since I learned there is much better quality fabric available, I hardly shop at JoAnn's anymore.

So… I looked on Joann to see what kind of sales… and it’s the usual prices they always are “on sale.” There’s nothing new going on here.

8:27 - The Ditto was doomed to fail. When we have a huge community of Projector Sewing DIYing it for less than $150 and we own our patterns, Ditto took all that information in the community and created a subpar product with a subscription model where you basically “rent” patterns. On top of that, we can’t even use PDF patterns from indie companies with it. I feel like it was solely a cash grab and done badly at that. I have two projector set ups. One is fixed and the other is portable. The fixed on cost my about $75, and the fixed on $50ish. Projector sewing can easily been done on a tight budget, no fancy over priced, limited machine needed. The Ditto started at $800, now it’s on sale for $250. What happens when they just discontinue it all together, there’s zero support for it, and it still isn’t compatible with existing PDF patterns?

I own a Ditto projector. Glad I didnt buy it when it was full price but I wish I would have gotten it at the price it is today... i paid around $500. You can now bring your existing indie patterns but its a limited amount...it works pretty good, but you have to pay the monthly subscription price in order to upload them.
@keisakura90142 ай бұрын
@@kbach92306 - So, they’re charging you to use patterns you already paid for?!?! No thanks. I’m not paying twice for the same pattern (unless I buy it again because I forgot I had it). These subscription models have gotten out of hand.

IMHO...I think JoAnns has a liquidation company still in the stores. Mark it up 4x and give 50% off...lol we know the game. i no longer shop JoAnns.

I’d like to add that Joann’s always seems dirty and disorganized. I used to love shopping there 20 years ago, not any more.
@laurienorton74223 ай бұрын
Joann sale prices were always the normal price elsewhere.
@NikkiVelazquez3 ай бұрын
One headline says permanent reductions, the next says it's only for a few days. It's misleading. But their fabric still sucks and their pricing is shady, so I'll continue shopping elsewhere.

Many, many items have been discontinued and/or changed manufacturers. Those are the 70% off items.
